The job is being created to foster the position of the High Temperature Polymerization (HTP) Group in BASF Global Polymer Research organization (N-GMU/H). - The QC/QA Lab Manager will review each method if it is a new method or a revision is made. The QC Lab Manager may assign the rewrite to the analytical chemist or any of the lab techs or h/she may do it as time permits. If the rewrite is assigned out, then the QC Lab Manager will verify the changes as written.
- Scheduling of all preventative maintenance on lab equipment done by outside contractors. Negotiate all maintenance contracts concerning the lab. Responsible for justifying, selecting the appropriate type and writing the purchase requisitions for all new equipment. Responsible for the day to day troubleshooting that is beyond the abilities of the shift tech, day tech, the A-tech, or the Analytical Chemist.
- The QC Lab Manager will provide logistical support to the technicians by maintaining adequate supplies of all materials used in the laboratory. This will include meeting with salespeople, comparison shopping for price and quality, placing orders and following up on any RUSH or back-ordered items.
- The QC Lab manager will be the primary contact for the QC/QA issues requiring them to meet with or talk to customers and suppliers, host customer site visits and ISO/TS audits both internal and external. They will meet with the individual unit supervisors to evaluate their needs for analysis, and will then help set priorities for each unit. They will accept any other work to the laboratory and will either perform or assign the work to a technician.
- Will participate on new product and process development teams for both CCB and CZN and direct R&D laboratory work to support the efforts coordinating the efforts with the Zachary Technology Manager.

Description
This position can be virtual or located at any BASF site.

This position will be primarily an internal consultant responsible for developing, launching and monitoring implementation of Behavior Based Safety (BBS) activities at multiple locations. The incumbent will be the primary interface with BASF Sites to communicate and support and execute BBS strategic initiatives. The incumbent will work as a partner with the Sites to formulate a business plan and implementation strategy using both BBS technologies and locally developed programs. The incumbent will be expected to deliver polished and highly effective presentations, training, field coaching and workshops to employees at all levels. While support will take several forms including phone/conference calls, virtual presentations, etc., a significant amount of time will be expected to be provided “hands-on” via onsite visits. The position will provide updates, and share knowledge and insights, with other Implementation Leaders as well as their respective Site Leadership, Business Unit Leadership, Hub Manager and other leadership as necessary.

Client Excellence
- Ensure that Site and/or business needs are fully discussed and regularly meet with site leadership to identify successes and challenges
- Mange project quality and be able to flex implementation schedule to meet site operational needs
- Conduct quality and customer satisfaction discussions to ensure implementation is driving the expected change
- Raise any client excellence issues to the Project Manager

Conduct Culture Assessments at site level
- Plan, set-up, and support survey implementation
- Conduct focus groups
- Interpret results and develop findings and recommendations
- Write Culture Assessment Reports
- Assist in development of a plan to share assessment results
- Develop Safety Climate and Culture improvement plans with Site leadership teams
- Monitor plan progress and support site leaders in removing barriers and obstacles for achieving plan success and safety outcomes

Implement BBS technology at the site level
- Develop a detailed site implementation plan including schedule, resources and measures of success
- Assist site leadership team in the development of a communication plan for the implementation
- Ensure that leaders understand BBS technology and recognize their role in a successful implementation
- Work with site leaders to identify strategy and areas of focus for leadership development
- Conduct leadership workshops and in-field coaching for site level leadership (managers/supervisors)
- Assist site in creation of a BBS steering team
- Train steering committee to implement BBS technology and provide on-going support
- Conduct Sustainability Reviews for BBS Implementations and Safety Leadership skills

Management of Project
- Manage all logistics of project including but not limited to materials ordering, scheduling of events, survey set up, etc.
- Ensure project stays on budget and on plan
- Quickly raise issues and concerns about an implementation to the Project Manager
- Complete monthly status reports and update process and safety metrics

Experience –Minimum 8 years’ working experience (Safety, Operations, HR, Consulting or applicable disciplines) is required. Progressive roles in Operations, Safety are preferred. Experience working in process manufacturing, chemical-related industry preferred. Candidate must possess strong analytical, consultative and diagnostic skills. Undergraduate degree in environmental science, human resources, business or related field is required.

Project Management –Must have proven ability to plan and organize projects in order to manage multiple site launches simultaneously. Demonstrated exposure to and experience with project management methodologies and practices. Project management experience involving financial metrics, staff planning, client and stake holder relations and quality control is highly preferred.

Communication / Presentation Skills – Outstanding written and verbal communication skills as well as excellent listening and probing abilities. Demonstrated performance/experience training and coaching employees at all levels is desirable.

Internal Consulting Skills – Must demonstrate past experience with or exposure to assisting internal/external clients in diagnosing their needs and implementing plans to achieve client expectations and success. Exposure to and experience with systematic processes to identify performance issues including gap analysis, root cause analysis, lean production techniques, measurement & evaluation, change management, and thought leadership is highly desirable.
