Where the Chemistry Happens…

This position is located in our Amherst, NY office and will support the activities of the Regional Sales Managers in the Bridge Fabricated Products Sector. The support will include, but is not limited to, assisting in the preparation of proposals for customers, reviewing contract documents, reviewing project specifications, providing technical support, and assisting in the search for new business and supporting current customers. The position is focused on creating a positive first impression and helping to manage the communication process that helps to obtain and maintain profitable business from valued customers.

Sales Engineering Support Representative - Fabricated Bridge Sector (1704674) – Amherst, NY

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Internal Sales Support
- Support Regional Sales Managers in Bridge Fabricated Products Business Sector in attainment of annual stated business and financial objectives. The geographic market for these sales is traditionally within the United States and Canada.
- Coordinate activities with the Regional Sales Managers. Included in these responsibilities will be customer contact in support of ongoing projects, communicating internal design and manufacturing progress to customer schedule, and follow-up with customers on technical submittals and approvals.
- Project Bid Preparation
- Conduct preliminary review of construction project plan and addenda, preparation of prospective bidder lists in advance of proposal submittals.
- Attach Bid Lists in SAP B1.
- Pre-Bid Management of Design Build Projects
- Manage project identification and proposal validations.
- Track shortlisted contractors through final selection process, and conduct ongoing dialogue with Regional Sales Management on final proposal preparation and communication with customers.
- Create and Maintaining Market Share Bid Results Database
- Partner with Regional Sales Managers to assess market feedback and bid results.
- Create and maintain SAP B-1 data base for all bid results by Sales Region, Product Category, and Competitor.
- Establish Market Size Database:
- Conduct roll-up of market bid data, determine annual market size within each RSM territory.
- Evaluate and determine market share by competitor and market pricing.
- Bridge Fabricated Sector Technical Inquiries
- Organize and communicate all incoming project and product recommendation inquiries from Engineering Design Consultants and Contractors to responsible RSMs. Develop technical capabilities to make value-added recommendations to customer.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, Estimating, Business Management, or a similar field is preferred or an Associate’s degree.
- Experience in a civil/commercial/infrastructure construction related sales or sales support position is highly desired.
- Experience with technical documents, including the ability to read and interpret drawings and project specification sheets.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills in both written and verbal communications.
- Ability to communicate technical information with both customers and vendors.
- Able to create, interpret, organize, and update market feedback information to assist remote Regional Sales Managers in identified support tasks.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office on a Windows 7 platform, Internet search engines, and experience with SAP is highly preferred
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods is a major plus.
