Where the Chemistry Happens…

This position coordinates the manufacturing engineering function after product design through the production process for our Watson Bowman Acme business in Amherst, NY. S/he will seek and provide information to help the company determine its position in the product marketplace. The successful candidate will work with the scheduling function and manufacturing to provide processes and efficient production and run quantities. The position is a key member of the internal team coordinating with the Master Scheduler, Plant Manager, Estimating Department, and others to insure the efficient manufacturing and on time delivery of all products. S/he will update and determine routing and bills of materials to support warehouse shipping processes.

- Turn data into information that management can act on; perform systems analysis work.
- Can relate job performance to ISO objectives.
- Support internal and external audits for assigned proposals and programs.
- Complete all work in conformance with Company and Department ISO 9001-2000 and 14001 policies, procedures, and work instructions.
- Consult with vendors, the plant superintendent, and the plant manager to determine up-to-date equipment requirements for current processes and future growth/improvements
- Utilize the CNC database to report complaints and potential non-conformances to support WBA continuous improvement efforts.
- Work with vendors and outside toll manufacturers to insure all work and materials meet strict AISC standards, and that toll manufacturers are performing work to specifications and meeting customer delivery dates.
- Supervise employees within functional area as needed.
- Support and adhere to all environmental, health, and safety rules and regulations as described in the Environmental Health and Safety Rules and Regulations Employee Handbook, as well as WBA specific safety guidelines and procedures. Make safety a way of life and always a part of your individual actions.
- Travel both domestically and internationally when required.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- A 2-year degree in Industrial Technology or a related field.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in Production Control or a similar position.
- Proficiency in computer systems including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office, Visio, Lotus Notes, and Minitab; experience with Pronest, Master Cam, or similar machining software is required.
- Lean/Six Sigma training with a Black Belt certification.
- SAP experience; SAP B1 system knowledge is a plus.
- Knowledge of metal fabrication, estimating, and plant production processes.
- Familiarity with welding and fabrication principles, combined with the ability to interpret design drawings and 3D modeling.
- Project management/Expediting experience.Working knowledge of 3D detail drawings.
- Experience with introducing new products and new processes into a production environment.
- Ability to review and negotiate contracts for toll manufacturing
- Understanding of selecting and developing sources of supply for both raw material suppliers and toll manufacturing, both domestically and internationally.
