Where the Chemistry Happens…

We are seeking a Process Safety Specialist to join our team and work together with our partners to protect our people, plants, communities and reputation from the hazards of our processes and products.

The position can be located at any one of our major locations.

Process Safety Specialist (1701063)

You will provide process safety expertise to safely carry out our operations by identifying and controlling the hazards of 1) the materials we handle, 2) the chemical processes we run, and 3) the physical equipment we use. By leading design reviews for new and existing processes, you will help ensure the safe design and on-going operation of our facilities, reducing the risk of accidents, injuries and illnesses to employees and customers.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Continually improve your technical competency in process safety and that of your colleagues involved with the design and operation of our facilities. This can be demonstrated by providing expert consultation on process safety issues and developing and delivering specific process safety training content, courses and seminars across the North America community.
- Develop compliance strategies for Company, federal, state and provincial requirements, including Responsible Care® activities, as they impact the operations of the Company and our customers and partners.
- Function as a key part of a close-knit semi-virtual team, which interdependently supports the development, performance and success of each team member and that of the entire team.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree required. A degree in Engineering or Science is preferred
- Minimum 5 years related prior work experience and must have 2+ years of experience in engineering, manufacturing or direct manufacturing support roles with an understanding of chemical processing and technologies.
- Regulatory and technical expertise is desired
- Experience in the implementation of Process Safety programs is desired
- Knowledge of Spanish and / or German is useful
- Must be able and willing to travel 50% of the time with occasional international travel
