E&I Technician (1802952) – Attapulgus, GA

The BASF Attapulgus, Georgia site manufactures catalyst for the global refining industry. You will provide E&I support to BASF Attapulgus Operations with a Safety-First mindset. This role includes but is not limited installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and repair of electrical equipment and instrumentation in an industrial plant; including power distribution, motor controls, PLC’s, wiring, process controls, flow meters, level transmitters, conductivity and PH meters. Must be able to work with minimum supervision.

Primary Functions:
- Read blueprints, P&ID's, single-lines, ladder logic, and wiring schematics.
- Repair and troubleshoot analog and discrete instrument loops.
- Effectively use typical test and calibration equipment, including pneumatic calibrators, RTD calibrators, mA calibrators, T/C calibrators, digital and analog multi-meters, meggers, and laptops for equipment communication.
- Follow step-by-step calibration procedures.
- Use computerized systems to enter and retrieve data.
- Troubleshoot and repair 480 VAC 3 phase motor controls as well as 120 VAC control circuits.
- Troubleshoot PLC problems through knowledge of PLC logic and operations.
- Troubleshoot pressure, temperature, level and flow measuring equipment, pneumatic controls, chart recorders, water analytical equipment (including pH/ORP, conductivity, solenoids, limit and proximity switches)
- Strong personal safety philosophy.
- Team oriented and have a willingness to learn and further develop technical skills.
- Willingness to work overtime and respond to call-out after hours and weekends when needed.
- Detail oriented and willing to document details appropriately.
- Strong troubleshooting and fault isolation skills.

Essential Functions:
- Lifting up to 50 lbs., carrying up to 25 lbs.
- Sitting, standing (in place), walking, and using arm/leg control.
- Bending, kneeling, squatting, and crawling.
- Wrist turning and finger manipulation.
- Climbing vertical, fixed ladders with ladder cages (up to 178 ft. structure)
- Climbing portable step and extension ladders
- Pushing and pulling up to 25 lbs.
- Twisting, turning, and reaching above shoulder level
- Simple to firm grasping

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…

Basic qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- One year of formal vocational/technical training in Electrical/Electronics field
- Four years of Electromechanical and/or Instrumentation & Electrical experience

Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Electrical Maintenance/Technology from a technical school or college
- Military service in a related field
- Experience with DCS systems
- Experience with high voltage switching equipment (4160V and above)
- Fabrication, wiring and hook up experience of Instrumentation and Electrical equipment to preferred
