Where the Chemistry Happens…

The BASF Attapulgus, Georgia site manufactures catalyst for the global refining industry.

You will provide E&I support to BASF Attapulgus Operations with a Safety First mindset. This role includes but is not limited installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and repair of electrical equipment and instrumentation in an industrial plant; including power distribution, motor controls, PLC’s, wiring, process controls, flow meters, level transmitters, conductivity and PH meters. Must be able to work with minimum supervision.

Formula for Success: You Will…

- Read blueprints, P&ID's, single-lines, ladder logic, and wiring schematics.
- Repair and troubleshoot analog and discrete instrument loops.
- Effectively use typical test and calibration equipment, including pneumatic calibrators, RTD calibrators, mA calibrators, T/C calibrators, digital and analog multi-meters, meggers, and laptops for equipment communication.
- Follow step-by-step calibration procedures.
- Use computerized systems to enter and retrieve data.
- Troubleshoot and repair 480 VAC 3 phase motor controls as well as 120 VAC control circuits.
- Troubleshoot PLC problems through knowledge of PLC logic and operations.
- Work with and troubleshoot the following:
- Pressure, temperature, level and flow measuring equipment
- Pneumatic Controls
- Chart recorders
- Water analytical equipment, including pH/ORP, Conductivity
- Solenoids
- Limit & Proximity Switches

- Requires lifting up to 50 lbs., carrying up to 25 lbs.
- Requires sitting, standing (in place), walking, and using arm/leg control.
- Requires bending, kneeling, squatting, and crawling.
- Requires wrist turning and finger manipulation.
- Requires ability to climb vertical, fixed ladders with ladder cages (up to 178 ft. structure)
- Requires ability to climb portable step and extension ladders
- Requires the ability to push and pull up to 25 lbs.
- Requires ability to twist, turn, and reach above shoulder level
- Requires simple to firm grasping ability

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

- Must be a high school graduate or have GED equivalent.
- At least one year of formal vocational/technical training in electrical/electronics field with at least five years of experience in the industrial electrical field. Or must possess a two-year Associate degree in electrical maintenance/technology from a technical school or college with at least three years of experience in the industrial electrical field.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

High school diploma/GED/Trade/Technical Degree or apprenticeship in a related field. Military service in a related field a plus, but not required. 4 years of Electromechanical and/or Instrumentation & Electrical experience. Fabrication, wiring and hook up experience of Instrumentation and Electrical equipment. Detail oriented and willing to document details appropriately. Strong troubleshooting and fault isolation skills. Familiar with PLC’s & PLC logic. Experience with DCS systems a plus. Experience with high voltage switching equipment (4160V and above) a plus but not required. Strong personal safety philosophy. Must be team oriented and have a willingness to learn and further develop technical skills. Willingness to work overtime and respond to call-out after hours and weekends when needed.
