Where the Chemistry Happens…

The BASF Attapulgus, Georgia site manufactures catalyst for the global refining industry.

You will provide Process Safety engineering support to BASF Attapulgus Operations with a Safety First mindset. This role includes but is not limited to setting the direction, leading the implementation, and ensuring the compliance with all regulatory and BASF process safety requirements. You will ensure all best practices are implemented and personnel are trained and knowledgeable on all aspects of process safety. You will ensure all process safety activities (PSM, PHA’s and MOC’s processes, plant inspections and audits, and project reviews) are executed efficiently and effectively. This position will routinely interface will the maintenance and operations communities to facilitate the execution of Process Safety and BASF risk programs. You will be responsible for developing and executing the tactical and strategic plan for the Plant. This position reports to the Plant Asset Manager.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Provide leadership and management for PSM program with all its elements
- Manage MOC process for the Plant
- Lead PHA efforts
- Manage Natural Gas, Boiler and Fire Protection systems
- Manage site's one covered PSM process
- Manage interfaces with all State Inspection programs
- Provide leadership and ensure execution of Plant's Tank Inspection, Pressure Vessel, Relief Valve and MI programs (manage facilitation through BASF maintenance teams and outside contractors)
- Provide leadership and management of Plant's Weld Integrity program
- Support capital project delivery processes
- Support establishing a safety culture in which all accidents are preventable
- Ability to coach and develop Plant personnel to reach their full potential
- Motivate and challenge to drive high performance
- Create an inclusive environment which embraces and derives value from diversity
- Role model and enable development of competencies in others needed to implement BASF's strategy

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- BS in Engineering - Chemical or Mechanical Engineering degree strongly preferred
- Minimum 7 years of experience in an Industrial Plant operations (preferably 24/7 operation)
- Requires familiarity with environmental, health and safety procedures, Process Hazard Analysis expertise and Process Safety (PSM) knowledge required
- Demonstrate ability to collaborate, influence and drive results required
- Strong understanding of Mechanical Integrity (MI) programs for tanks, pressure vessels, relief valves, and piping systems and preventative maintenance practices is required.
- Must have technical competencies of troubleshooting, root cause analysis, general computer skills (MS Office), and user knowledge of CMMS
- Effective communication skills, presentation skills, and technical writing skills for report generating required

Preferred
- Previous experience or knowledge of Weld Integrity Programs preferred
- Process engineering experience preferred
- SAP experience preferred
- Maintenance Work Processes and MOC (management of change) programs and processes experience preferred
- Leadership Training/Experience
