Description
Operating independently with limited supervision, the successful candidate will be engaged in the following tasks:
- Recording of experimental data in databases and maintenance of same
- Operation and general maintenance of mixing, coating and other related equipment
- Precise and accurate preparation of chemical solutions, slurries, and solid mixtures according to stoichiometric requirements and mixing procedures
- Characterize slurry properties with analytical tests
- Perform coating operation, follow procedures to achieve coating specification targets
- Performing analytical evaluation of electrode samples from coater, assessing the electrode quality by running QC testing
- Troubleshooting the operation of laboratory equipment; expected to be able to operate independently all section instrumentation and/or equipment
- Resolve minor problems, adapting non-conforming samples to routine preparation and procedures
- Learn required skills and knowledge quickly with training from senior technicians/staff to become an independent contributor
- Prepare operating and safety instructions for laboratory equipment and operations
- Advises the supervisor when standard procedures are not applicable to unique sample characteristics
- Assist senior staff on projects as needed

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
- BS in Chemistry/Material Science/Chemical Engineering with no experience or Associates degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related science with a minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a laboratory environment or a high school education with 3 years of laboratory experience.
- Understanding of and experience with stoichiometric calculations
- Ability to operate in a laboratory environment
- Computer skills including Excel
- Detailed oriented, operating according to SOP’s and safety standards
- Background in mixing and coating operation experience a plus
