Laboratory Coordinator (Concrete Admixtures Technician Coordinator) (1800394) – Beachwood, OH

The purpose of this position is to assist group managers with supervision of the technician pool. Provide scientists the resources needed to carry out evaluations and assistance as needed with all projects without being dedicated to any one project. Provide the technicians with the resources, organization and training necessary to be successful every day. Serve as a presence to smooth the transition of new managers, scientists and technicians into and out of the group and to assist in their day-to-day duties. Responsibility to train technicians, organize lab work, lab equipment and testing procedures and to help with any type of project-related and technical support work as needed.

Work environment:

Concrete laboratory, 40% Walking, Physical Testing, Lifting (up to 50 pounds)

60% Coordination and Communication

Level of Autonomy/Decision Making Responsibility:

Elaboration and coordination of the laboratory schedule according to the prioritization defined by management. Responsibility for allocating the lab technicians according to the needs identified on the schedule. Goal setting according to business strategy as well as performance evaluation of all technicians in the pool.

Internal and external relationships:

The coordinator will indirectly report to the group managers ensuring the execution of the experiments according to priorities. Scientists in the three different groups will request experiments to the pool via scheduling.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…

Basic qualifications:

4-year degree in a scientific field or high school diploma with >6 years’ experience in testing materials within this industry or in a similar industry is required.

6 years of laboratory experience and familiar with QC testing methods and be familiar with the use of a multitude of analytical equipment.

ACI Field Technician Certification and ACI Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician Certification or equivalent laboratory proficiency appropriate to work group.

At least 1 year of experience in troubleshooting admixture-related problems

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledgeable of BASF Construction Chemical’s products.
