Where the Chemistry Happens…

The Senior Accounting Analyst position exists to ensure the accurate and timely collection, analysis, and reporting of cost accounting data for the plants of assigned responsibility. The role will interface with corporate accounting to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). S/he will maintain internally developed controls and an environment of continuous improvement in the plant accounting areas. The incumbent will provide financial analyses and reporting as requested by the site or business group, as well as accounting support and guidance to Plants, Business Unit (BU) Operations, Supply Chain, and the Master data team. In addition, the position will track, analyze, and report on inventory activity for the EB business, (i.e., scrap, material ledger analysis/adjustments, raw material pricing, freight accruals, inventory adjustments, obsolescence, inventory by location/business line), and manage and report on the cycle count program for all EB locations.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Analyze, reconcile, summarize, and report plant costs monthly to site and corporate management.
- Observe and verify annual physical inventories, ensuring that corporate guidelines are followed.
- Track and analyze valuation for raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods in COBALT.
- Provide economic analysis as requested by the site or business groups.
- Assist plant management in the preparation of annual operating plans for the plant(s) under their responsibility and forecasting of monthly variances
- Prepare special analyses of production or service costs. These analyses are of a confidential nature and are utilized both at the site and at the business group level.
- Provide accounting support to teams within their plant responsibilities.
- Track, analyze, and report on inventory activity for the EB business, (i.e., scrap, material ledger analysis/adjustments, raw material pricing, freight accruals, inventory adjustments, obsolescence, inventory by location/business line).
- Manage and report on the cycle count program for all EB locations.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Accounting or Finance; an advanced degree, CPA, and/or CMA is desirable.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in Site Accounting/Controlling, Business Accounting/Controlling, and/or Corporate Accounting/Controlling.
- General understanding of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and IFRS, and internal control techniques.
- Knowledge of Management accounting and inventory control methods and/or BASF Systems (COBALT, MARIS, COBUS, OCEAN).
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel and management, including oral and written presentations.
- Must have the skills, training, and motivation necessary to work independently to accomplish objectives; must have the business acumen to support an environment of continuous improvement.
- ERP experience required; SAP data mining expertise preferred.
