Where the Chemistry Happens…

We are seeking a Laboratory Technician to work in our quality control group in Beaumont TX.

Laboratory Technician (1704767) – Beaumont, TX

This position is responsible for working safely in the laboratory while performing chemical analysis of raw materials, in-process, and final product samples.

- Actively participate in and support efforts to maintain a safe work environment for yourself and your colleagues.
- Immediately report unsafe acts or conditions in the laboratory and take immediate actions to protect self and others from potential injury.
- Understand and follow all appropriate EHS and Q policies.
- Accurately analyze, document, and communicate results of release testing to ensure quality control of incoming raw materials
- Accurately analyze, document, and communicate results of in-process and final product samples analysis to facilitate efficient operations and acceptable product quality.
- Under direction of laboratory supervisor, review and evaluate new analytical methods and procedures prior to implementation
- Perform testing for special projects in support of continuous improvement efforts as directed by laboratory supervisor or quality manager.
- Prepare and maintain the inventory of standard chemical solutions and necessary reagents as required
- Perform housekeeping as required and keep individual work areas in a safe and organized condition
- Perform basic instrument / equipment troubleshooting and maintenance activities
- Perform other laboratory tasks as directed by supervisor or quality manager
- Maintain retrievable and traceable system of quality documentation and related items
- Provide vacation coverage as part of the pool of laboratory technicians
- Work as part of the QC team to meet department goals and deliverables.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Required:
- Associate degree or college level coursework and lab work in a scientific or technical discipline
- Demonstrated ability to solve basic mathematical problems, reading comprehension, and mechanical aptitude
- Knowledge of standard chemical laboratory analytical techniques.
- Willingness to work shift schedules, including holidays, weekends and overtime as required
- Willingness to adhere to high standards of productivity, quality, and safe work practices

Preferred:
- General knowledge of SAP
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a related science discipline. BASF recognizes Institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation of equivalent
