BASF Corporation's Crop Protection Business in Beaumont, TX is seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer.

BASF's Beaumont, Texas Site produces quality herbicides and intermediates that have helped to feed the world for over 40 years. The Beaumont Site is a key manufacturing site in the Corporation's Agricultural Solutions Division. Plant operations consist of two large active ingredient production facilities, product formulation facilities, one packaging operation, and associated utilities and waste disposal facilities.

Mechanical Maintenance Engineer – 1801278

This is a BASF direct position that is discipline-specific (Mechanical) and is tactical and daily maintenance focused. The successful candidate will be responsible for collaborating with Production and Maintenance personnel and provide services relating to design review, repair, and maintenance, including predictive / preventative maintenance activities. Additionally, it provides technical support for Root Cause Failure Analyses, troubleshooting of problems, and monitoring Preventive Maintenance and Predictive Maintenance programs.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Apply appropriate reliability tools to drive improvements, optimize costs, and improve asset effectiveness (i.e., Bad Actor Program, FMEA, RBI, RBM, RCM, Reliability Roadmap, etc.)
- Ensures development and sustenance of Critical Equipment list
- Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics for proactive identification and resolution of reliability issues
- Lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFAs) and corrective actions for complex and/or repetitive problems.
- Provide technical support to maintenance Supervisor, specialist, and crafts on difficult equipment repair problems
- Provide Tier 2 troubleshooting support and recommendations to operating units on equipment reliability including emergency work reviews
- Participate in the Bad Actor Program and create action plans for improving reliability
- Assist in the training and development of in-house maintenance resources
- Establish, monitor, and optimize Preventative Maintenance and Predictive Maintenance Plans
- Develop disciplined and systematic equipment Maintenance strategy based upon business needs
- Identify and implement best practices across site
- Interpret codes, regulations, and standards
- Evaluate new technologies
- Evaluate alternatives for equipment repair seeking cost and time advantages
- Support capital projects by supplying engineering expertise in the specification, design, and construction of capital projects in accordance with plant design requirements as well as regulatory and BASF standards. This includes (but not limited to):
- Equipment selection/layout
- Scope development
- Spare parts determination
- Support with technical Bid analysis and bonus/malus reviews
- Support installation, commissioning, and startup activities

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering and minimum 5+ years of maintenance, reliability and/or projects in a chemical/petrochemical or other similar manufacturing environment.
- Broad based, hands on knowledge and experience with various types of mechanical equipment. Also must possess a solid understanding of maintenance work processes.
- Ability to communicate effectively with facts and figures along with the ability to influence, persuade and negotiate. Strong interpersonal skills are required in this position.
- Knowledge and experience to provide technical guidance

We Also Look For…
- A general understanding of maintenance activities associated with process equipment such as centrifugal pumps, piping systems, pressure vessels (including heat exchangers), atmospheric storage tanks, positive displacement pumps, relief devices and compressors of various design.
- General knowledge of API and ASME codes, vibration analysis and equipment lubrication programs
- General knowledge of SAP.
