Where the Chemistry Happens…

BASF Corporation's Crop Protection Business in Beaumont, TX is seeking an experienced and motivated individual to be the Site Manager of the facility.

The Beaumont facility is a manufacturer for active ingredients going into pesticides in the agricultural market. The site includes manufacturing units, EHS, engineering, technical, laboratory, maintenance, and site support staff.

The incumbent will be responsible for leading all aspects of the site while integrating into the BASF's global pesticide manufacturing structure.

The successful candidate must have demonstrated experience in chemical manufacturing with a broad knowledge of manufacturing practices, environmental and safety knowledge, and successful team leadership.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Direct staff in close cooperation with the Beaumont Leadership Team with responsibility for all site operations.
- Ensure that daily monitoring and cost control occurs for raw material usage, analytical data, production and shipping reporting, and finished product packaging.
- Lead and assist in planning safety and environmental programs to provide safe and environmentally responsible site operations without incidents or violations. Programs specifically include Process Safety aspects of operations.
- Create a working environment based on BASF's Mission, Vision, Value Statement that fosters teamwork and responsible risk taking to allow site employees to achieve maximum results.
- Participate in yearly environmental and safety audits of plant operations and follow-ups to implement all action steps required.
- Review and monitor plant maintenance systems for efficiency, effectiveness, and equipment reliability to improve overall operating cost and on-stream factors.
- Establish effective cost control procedures.
- Direct development of yearly operating plans and budgets for each plant and products.
- Ensure best operating procedures are in place for all plant operations and all changes are reviewed and documented to meet the Process Safety Management Program Requirements.
- Assure product quality requirements are met, and that any plant-related complaints are low and are carefully followed up for improvement.

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor’s degree required in any of the following technical functions: Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline, such as Mechanical or Electrical; advanced degree is a plus.
- 15 years of experience preferred in plant operations, startup, and project engineering background inside BASF Group or with another chemical/agricultural products company with a demonstrated level of increasing responsibility.
- At least 10 years of experience in leading teams is required.
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing site support systems in maintenance, continuous improvement, and Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) required.
- Strong oral and technical writing communications skills.
- Very good management and sound organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal skills; open-minded and innovative.
- Detailed knowledge of good manufacturing principles in a highly technical environment; along with regulatory and legislative affairs.
- Ability to communicate effectively with the public and media.
- Capacity to identify problems and opportunities in the related areas and define structure, and plan and implement improvement projects to satisfy site, business group, and corporate objectives.
- Strong knowledge of community affairs, including Community Awareness Emergency Response (CAER), with capability to represent BASF at public hearings, city council meetings, Commissioners Court, Economic Development Group, United Way Campaign, and other public events.
