At the BASF Charlotte Technical Center of our North American Dispersions & Pigment Business Division, we are seeking a Colorant Formulation Specialist for the development of new colorant dispersions for waterborne paints.

Colorant Formulation Specialist (1800035) – Charlotte, NC

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Design and develop new colorant dispersions for water-borne paints for architectural coatings.
- Perform hands-on colorant formulation work in the lab.
- Explore fundamental principles of interaction between the individual formulation components of a pigment dispersions.
- Collaborate with customer(s) to jointly develop new products and solutions that meet their requirements.
- Stay current with scientific and technical advances in your working field and explore new opportunities.
- Establish and maintain a safe and healthy work environment by being aware of and implementing company-wide and site safety policies/procedures.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Material Science; advanced degree is a plus.
- Ability to apply both fundamental principles and creativity to the development of new formulations.
- A passion for continuously learning and applying new tools for development of products.
- Excellent hands-on experimentation and superior problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work and partner effectively with individuals within and outside of own organization.
- At least 2 years of industry experience in waterborne coatings/paint formulation, most preferably in pigment and pigment dispersions.
