The Construction Solutions Group is dedicated to bringing innovative formulated solutions to our customers in the construction industry by combining the entire BASF portfolio of products and services. BASF has openings for Strategic Account Managers in the following areas: Building Materials, Construction Coatings, Infrastructure & Cellulosics & Composites.

The Strategic Account Manager is responsible for introducing the complete BASF portfolio to entire industry segment to drive profitable growth. S/he will manage a complete portfolio (consisting of dispersions, resins, formulation additives and XBU products) and full relationship with strategic segment customers by implementing agreed upon business strategy, while communicating and coordinating with Technical Services, Industry Marketing, Product Management, Supply Chain and Customer Care to develop and facilitate overall the Customer Experience..

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Take ownership of a select market segment to include the execution of the Industry Segment strategy ensuring overall segment growth (volume, margin, top line sales) through specific account ownership, sales support across the industry segment, and alignment with business functions and strategic objectives.
- Identify and attract new customers, pursue new applications, and interact with corresponding process and product developers of the potential customers, leading to profitable future business.
- Influence decision-makers in a complex environment within and outside BASF on all levels, and drive actions and decisions even without disciplinary responsibility.
- Develop and maintain strategic long-term business relationships with designated Strategic Accounts to promote Brand Value and Customer Experience.
- Take responsibility for the overall Sales Process, aiming to meet or exceed sales targets within specific Industry Segments and Strategic Accounts supported by thorough CRM management.
- Drive innovation through aligned interfaces with Customers, Technical Services, and Marketing Managers to address all customer needs and technical problems, to prepare and specify solutions, and to close sales opportunities.
- Negotiate and close long-term deals or contracts with customers and provide operational guidance and support to the relevant functional departments to ensure implementation.
- Provide accurate sales forecasts and supporting efficient planning of products and services across Industry Segment and Strategic Accounts.
- Be accountable and responsible for pricing execution and financials for the assigned Industry Segments and Strategic Accounts for profitable growth.
- Utilize product application knowledge, as well as thorough knowledge of entire customer and market value chain, to Identify business trends in and beyond the customer scope/respective portfolio.
- Serve as a liaison between Customer and BASF Functions (Technical Services, Industry Marketing, Supply Chain, Customer Care, Product Management) to provide ongoing support and ensure the Customer Experience.
- Demonstrate motivation and coaching of Account Managers assigned to Industry Segment..

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor’s degree in a business or science discipline required; advanced degree preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in sales/marketing with demonstrated ability to:
- Effectively drive new customer acquisition
- Continuously drive growth through existing customer portfolio
- Ability to understand, develop, and communicate value propositions.
- Strong business and financial acumen.
- Communicate, interact, and influence effectively across all levels of customer teams and business organization

- Utilization of CRM to drive growth, retain customer knowledge, and increase organizational effectiveness.
- Ability to negotiate and implement contracts, pricing structures, and general business needs.
- Must have outstanding verbal, written and presentation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with proven track record of building strong customer and internal relationships.
