Where the Chemistry Happens…

The Construction Support Specialist is directly responsible for Capital Project Contractors that work projects in Geismar Surfactants. This position will eliminate delays and obstacles that occur between Ops and Contractor on Capital projects. The role will ensure the contractor complies with construct schedule, project scope, and project costs.

Note: This development position is an accelerated development experience for candidates who require a cross business and/or cross functional assignment based on their development goals. Candidate should have track record of getting results in first time, diverse and changing conditions and demonstrating higher performance over time. Due to the developmental nature of this role, time in role between 18-36 months.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Verify the Contractor follows IFC drawings for all construction packages and act on the owner’s behalf for buyoff on test packages and deviations to technical standards.
- Support operations in the commissioning and recommissioning of capital projects and the completion of punch-out items and PSSR action items prior to project start-up.
- Ensure oversight of contractors and support craftsmen to maintain cost-effectiveness of project installations.
- Maintain strong compliance with EM Safety and cGMP requirements.
- Take a hands-on approach to reduce install costs of projects while reducing dependency of EM on BASF Construction.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- At least 10 years of Manufacturing experience required.
- Working experience and knowledge with SAP.
- Familiarity with the Maintenance Process (e.g., Job Planning, Prioritization, Contractor Management, Scheduling).
- Knowledge of PSM/RMP and Big 5 EHS processes, Safe Work Permit, Hot Work, LOTO, Confined Specs, and Vehicle Access.
- Experience with Capital Project Process and Construction of big projects, IFC drawings, Project Scheduling, Materials Management, Project Package Development, and Testing Requirements for Owner and Contractors,
- Emphasis on safety with respect to contractor compliance to BASF Surfactants EHS rules, in field coaching, and redirecting contractor on correct safe work practices
- Ability to drive up tool time (Productivity) for contractors with respect to approved Capital Projects, working directly with Ops to make sure that Contractors work is ready to work, and properly tagged out (LOTO) and helping Contractor understand the Safety Work Permit process, ultimately driving down construction costs for Project.
