Where the Chemistry Happens…

Working within your assigned geographical responsibility, you will build a solid network of concrete industry contacts; deliver admixture expertise to customers, prospects, and BASF sales representatives. You will provide analysis and action plans for gaining business, which includes providing support for testing and industrial trials, implementing strategies to drive innovation and growth initiatives, and assisting in product and process training. You will maintain customer relationships by improving business at existing accounts, support newly attained accounts, and gain new business at targeted accounts. You will implement and comply with Company initiatives, policies, and procedures.

- Meet and exceed annual objectives that drive innovative and sustainable solutions, deliver on our brand promise, and create strong demand for BASF products.
- Accountable for financial growth targets by gaining new business (projects, unsold accounts) and driving organic growth though our current customer base.
- Able to analyze market shifts and trends and develop action plans and strategies for growth.
- Responsible for marshaling resources and supporting the process for product introductions, applications, and demonstrations, both internally and externally.
- Responsible for supporting sales representatives on technical issues and/or strategies that align with Business Unit (BU) goals.
- Active participation in industry-related associations relevant to success in meeting the BU objectives around brand promise and organic growth.
- Inform appropriate organizational function of competitor and market intelligence.
- Process safety roles and responsibilities across the organization are clearly defined and include an expectation to raise, and authority to respond to process safety concerns. Senior leaders are held accountable for process safety performance. Employees understand the importance of process safety as it applies to their jobs, and are responsible for following and contributing to
- the work processes to achieve improvement in company process safety performance.
- Assure standards of safety, environmental, team, and individual performance are met in a high-performance, team-based organization.
- Address and raise the EHS standards at BASF.
- Business environment:
- Travel required as appropriate for geographical responsibility, and some modest travel outside of immediate area of responsibility to participate in peer group interactions and report progress on objectives and initiatives.
- Level of Autonomy/Decision Making Responsibility:
- This position will report to an Area Manager (AM) who will help establish annual objectives and the financial targets. The AM will provide guidance and approval to the Sales Development Specialist for all activities within the scope of the assigned geography. Expectations for the Sales Development Specialist as a contributing member of the area sales team, relative to market focus, strategy, call planning, and driving innovation initiatives. This includes engagement and relationship building with key customer accounts, DOTs, universities, engineers, designers, specifiers, and contractors.
- Internal and external relationships:
- The Sales Development Specialist will interact with product managers and segment mangers relative to strategy, support and focus. The Sales Development Specialist will get involved with industry/ technical organizations and associations to represent BASF interests and promote our solutions. The organizational targets, interactions, and the time commitment will be agreed to by the reporting AM.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 8 years of industry experience; OR High School Diploma with a minimum of 15 years of industry experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in account management and sales with demonstrated history of closing new business and driving technology.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills.
- Intermediate computer skills.
- Basic financial and market analysis skills.
- An understanding of the key drivers of the concrete industry.
- Electrical and/or mechanical aptitude.
