Lead Operator (1801975) – Erie, PA

Lead Operators function primarily in the role of a working team lead to assist the Contact Supervisor in directing the assigned shift to meet production, training and safety goals. In addition to the duties and responsibilities of a Chemical Operator, the Lead Operator will also include the following:

- Responsible for promoting a safe work culture by following all applicable company procedures along with consistent follow up on department/employee practices. Recognizes and accepts that the safety performance of their area is fully their responsibility and accountability.
- Manufacture products according to designated formulations/techniques.
- Maintain clear and accurate manufacturing records.
- Control manufacturing costs by eliminating material damage/spillage.
- Troubleshoot and overcome process problems as they occur within limits of the operator’s knowledge.
- When necessary assist maintenance on minor repairs to minimize process downtime, at Contact Supervisor direction and work with maintenance in the scheduling of work orders.
- Checks boilers daily.
- Performs lockout/tagout, hot work and other permits.
- Assist Contact Supervisors in making sure employees are trained/oriented in the safety, quality, and customer and productivity standards of their jobs.
- Assist with cycle counts and inventory control as assigned.
- Perform Chemical Operator duties as required by production.
- Understand equipment and overall plant manufacturing processes.
- Familiar with environmental, safety, and health procedures and issues.
- Team player with strong work ethic and solid understanding of the cause/effect relationship of production transactions coupled with technical analytical skills.
- Must have understanding of mechanical and instrument equipment and their maintenance, mechanical integrity, and the inspection process.
- City of Erie Boiler’s License must be attained within 18 months of becoming a Lead Operator.
- Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…

Basic qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Five (5) years operational and/or maintenance experience in an Industrial environment

Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience with maintenance programs, work processes (MPI, etc.), and best practices
