Where the Chemistry Happens…

The Product Regulations Specialist has the responsibility to support BASF business groups by assuring product compliance to International, Federal, State, and local regulations through a North American shared services platform. The function supports sales and marketing initiatives and daily business operations. Communication and close working relationships with BASF Groups is a vital part of this function.

This is a dynamic position that provides a core set of knowledge in the SAP systems and the interactions between modules. This role operates in a cross-functional environment with significant involvement with the Business Marketing & Supply Chain, Operating/Manufacturing plants, Sampling, and Customer Service teams in the North American region as well as with global contacts in Europe, Asia Pacific, and Central and South America. This position also requires involvement with the UN Global Harmonization System (GHS) to support exports for Europe and Asia Pacific regions.

These functions are performed under the direction of the Product Regulations Business Segment Manager with minimum supervision.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- SDS and GLM Support for NA and CA&C - Proactively manage accurate, current, and complete master data using the EHS SAP module to assure compliance with NA HAZCOM, TSCA, CEPA, and other chemical and product regulations.
- Blocked Order Management/Trade Controls - Responsible for monitoring and managing all data requirements and compliance documents in support of the Global Trade System and control activities in SAP for local, regional, and global regulations, including GTS classifications.
- Work Plans & Demand Planning – Core management and upkeep weekly updates for REACToR and MoC processes and provide support KPI/metrics for these processes.
- Customer support – Participate in regularly scheduled meetings with customers. Troubleshoot regulatory issues for the business and provide regulatory expertise to mitigate/ensure no non-compliance issues will occur.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Toxicology, Science, or related technical discipline required; advanced degree preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in product regulations/regulatory affairs/product stewardship or related fields in EHS. Strong knowledge of TSCA, hazard communications standard (OSHA GHS and WHMIS 2015). Working knowledge of other product regulations topics such as FIFRA (biocides), FDA, DEA, CWC and HTS is preferred.
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills needed to engage with global and regional business contacts. Ability to work well within a cross-functional, multi-BU, virtual and matrixed business environment.
- Strong computer skills required.
- Knowledge of SAP, and the ability to extract data from it, is preferred, especially with EHS module Global Trade Control System and Global Label Management and SDS creation.
- Must be familiar with product families and the chemistry associated with them; must demonstrate ability to manage projects effectively; must demonstrate proven abilities in key competencies
