Where the Chemistry Happens…

BASF is looking for an experienced professional to lead the Product Stewardship program for the Care Chemicals business in North America, located in Florham Park, NJ. S/he will have primary Product Stewardship responsibility for the Care Chemicals product portfolio and will routinely interface with Business Unit Leadership, the Regulatory Affairs Specialist, Product Management, Marketing, Sales, R&D, Technical, EHS and Legal. The Product Steward – Business Support Specialist will strategically identify emerging EHS issues and opportunities, assess product and market risks, and proactively develop risk management measures and product strategies for the Care Chemicals business.

Product Steward – Business Support Specialist (1800936) – Florham Park, NJ

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Provide strategic direction on EHS product-related issues and opportunities to senior business leadership on a routine basis and, more formally, though the Strategic EHS Forecast documentation under the BASF Responsible Care Management System®.
- Function as the business’s primary REACH resource addressing business and customer questions. Coordinate registrations and resolve issues with existing registrations.
- Manage the Customer Support database to track key performance indicators (KPIs). Work in this database to address customer requests across EM to ensure timely responses to entered customer requests. Coordinate efforts of the group’s Regulatory Support Specialists as needed.
- Apply expertise and regulatory knowledge to promote sustainable business opportunities.
- Support the development and implementation of Stewardship tools, programs, and management systems, including implementation of BASF Product Stewardship Directive for business unit and product stewardship-related activities under the BASF Responsible Care Management System®.
- Work with the Care Chemicals Regulatory Affairs Specialists to strategically identify emerging EHS issues and opportunities, assess product and market risks, and proactively develop risk management measures and product strategies for assigned portfolio and business segments.
- Partner with the Care Chemicals Regulatory Affairs Specialists to determine and assess the impacts of product changes and regulatory requirements on business unit products, markets, and customers, and actively manage regulatory issues to resolution.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor’s degree required in a scientific discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Toxicology) or Engineering; other degrees may be considered if candidate has significant and relevant professional experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of EHS/Regulatory or related business experience.
- Knowledge of EHS product regulations in North America and/or knowledge of business unit product portfolio, markets, and industries.
- Familiarity with REACH regulations.
- Must communicate effectively throughout all levels of the organization with the ability to translate regulatory/technical information clearly and concisely to business leadership, and the ability to represent BASF externally with integrity and professionalism.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision and within a virtual and matrix organization.
- Strong skills related to leadership, teamwork, interpersonal relations, customer focus, work management and results orientation.
- Sound skills related to use of computer-based tools for knowledge assessment and management.
