Where the Chemistry Happens…

This position provides technical expertise and resources to ensure a reliability focus and collaborate with Production, Maintenance Execution, and Capital Project execution teams. This includes Maintenance Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Inspections, Vibrations, Mechanical Refrigeration Units, and miscellaneous maintenance support functions.

Formula for Success: You Will…

Provide managerial leadership for the Mechanical Services Teams:

Lead the development of site reliability goals, ensure implementation, monitor effectiveness, and take necessary actions to meet overall business objectives.

Manage talent development and succession planning for staff, including team development and building/maintaining an engaged workforce. Coach staff and support mutually agreed upon development needs and training opportunities. Conduct job assignments considering developmental opportunities; train and coach employees to be successful.

Manage personnel items including performance reviews, compensation programs, discipline, conflict resolution, short- and long-term disability, accommodation, consistent enforcement of rules and policies, change management, on-boarding of new employees, and engage in effective and clear communication.

Provide mechanical discipline technical leadership to the site:

Initiate processes to drive improvements, optimize costs, improve reliability, and increase asset availability.

Support the safe and effective execution of site-wide maintenance and engineering work while managing stakeholder expectations.

Identify and evaluate outside specialty services relating to common mechanical issues.

Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and coaching to Maintenance and Reliability Engineers, Inspections, Vibrations, Mechanical Refrigeration Unit maintenance, and other miscellaneous maintenance support functions.

Ensure the sustainability of reliability processes (e.g., Bad Actors, Root Cause Failure Analysis, Risk Based Inspections).

Support development and implementation of maintenance and reliability strategies consistent with requirements as defined by Asset Managers.

Provide technical leadership and oversight to common mechanical services, such as machine shops, valve repairs, leak repairs, fabrication shops, welding shops, mechanical refrigeration units.

Contribute expert guidance to the Mechanical site-wide community regarding complex maintenance or engineering issues and solutions.

Promote the use of LEAN manufacturing tools to identify waste and ensure continuous improvement:

Function as a Site, Corporate, and Global expert for reliability and mechanical technical support:

Sponsor Site Mechanical Center of Excellence (CoE).

Serve as a representative to Professional Maintenance Organizations and local councils.

Serve on BASF regional and global teams to develop and optimize maintenance execution, reliability, and work processes.

Function as a technical consultant for other sites on maintenance execution, reliability, and work process-related topics.

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
- A minimum of 10 years of maintenance and/or reliability experience OR 15 years of maintenance and/or reliability experience in a chemical/petrochemical or similar manufacturing environment; at least 5 years of experience in leading teams.
- Broad-based knowledge with all maintenance and reliability technical systems, specializing in the Mechanical Fields.
- Ability to communicate effectively with facts and figures, along with the capability to influence, persuade, and negotiate. Strong interpersonal skills are required for this position.
- Work collaboratively with diverse multiple stakeholders including, but not limited to, Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Procurement, Stores, Accounting, Project Engineers, Engineering Managers, Site Leadership Team, and Manufacturing Support Services.
- Balance priorities across multiple plants and situations within resource constraints while preserving a maintenance and engineering perspective and intent.
- Ability to influence, motivate, and coach personnel and teams in a professional leadership role while providing support and mentoring of technical professionals.

This position requires all candidates to either currently possess or obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Card from the U. S. Department of Homeland Security.
