We have big goals for our Freeport Engineering group and we're working hard to build our Project Engineering team, which provides functional leadership and services for technical design, construction, maintenance, and optimization of plants in pursuit of Operational Excellence. We have an opportunity for a Project Engineer at our Freeport, TX location.

Project Engineer III (1800769) – Freeport, TX

The Engineering and Maintenance Department in Freeport executes capital investment projects for the production facilities at the Freeport site. The Project Engineer is the focal point of responsibility, authority, and accountability of these capital investments. The successful candidate for this position must be a results-oriented leader who can build strong working relationships and function effectively at all levels of the organization. S/he must be able to think strategically to mitigate risks, solve problems, and increase value.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Achieve project objectives which include functionality, cost, and schedule for project investments up to approximately $10M.
- Maintain focus on safety in the development of project concept and during execution.
- Provide leadership to the project team including engineering, production, procurement, and construction.
- Develop execution and contracting strategies to effectively meet objectives while ensuring compliance with all BASF policies, procedures, and technical standards.
- Champion the scope development process to ensure completeness of the basic engineering, and seek opportunities for added value through application of Value Based Engineering.
- Assist and prepare appropriate project documentation.
- Participate in peer groups to ensure application of best practices.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline.
- At least 5 years of engineering experience in a chemical, petrochemical or similar manufacturing environment with 2 years of project engineering experience.
- Proven successful track record of executing small- to medium-size capital projects.
- Outstanding technical, leadership, and communication skills.
- In-depth knowledge of project management processes and project execution best practices.
- Familiarity with SAP systems is preferred.

This position requires all candidates to either currently possess or obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Card from the U. S. Department of Homeland Security.
