We are searching for a professional like you who will hold responsibility for ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective operations within the Freeport site You will be at the forefront of delivering the site’s mission of meeting or exceeding all customer expectations while meeting process metrics.

The Chemical Intermediates Group has an opportunity for a Sr. Production Engineer in the Polyalcohols department located at the BASF Freeport, TX location.

The Chemical Intermediates Group features a comprehensive portfolio chemical processes and innovative specialties. With our finished products and chemical intermediates, we contribute to the success of our customers worldwide, both external and internal to BASF.

Senior Production Engineer (1800687) – Freeport, TX

The Senior Production Engineer supports the daily operation of the Polyalcohols plants while providing technical leadership in executing the required production plan. The successful candidate will provide strong leadership in the areas of safe plant operation, and adherence to BASF Process Safety rules and policies. In addition, you will be instrumental in leading troubleshooting efforts when problems arise, as well as identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Provide guidance and input to the achievement and development of plant goals, objectives, and operational budgets
- As a member of the Site Tactical Leadership Team, you will serve as a role model in championing risk reduction activities for all plant employees by setting a Zero Incident mindset. The team also provides opportunities to create value for BASF through collaboration between production units/services groups on the Freeport site.
- As leader of a team of cross-functional employees, you will coach, motivate, and assess individual performance and develop a system to achieve and maintain performance at established levels.
- With your sound knowledge of Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement programs and methodologies, you will direct process capability and efficiency efforts to reduce operating costs while improving plant operations.
- Provide Technical Support and troubleshooting expertise to the Daily Operational Team for plant problems that occur and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Provide technical and leadership support in root cause failure analysis for production, EHS, and Quality Incidents
- Participate in production planning and scheduling
- Be on-call and respond to any after-hour event that impacts production or EHS
- Interface with suppliers, customers, and vendors as needed to maintain plant operations.
- Assist the HDO/NEOL Team in the coordination, planning, and execution of shutdown or turnaround work, including maintenance and capital activities.
- Lead the Management of Change (MOC) system for the Polyalcohols unit, including revalidation of temporary MOCs.
- Manage the Action Tracker system to achieve the goal of zero overdue action items.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering discipline, preferably Chemical Engineering, and a minimum of 10 years of experience in a chemical/petrochemical or similar manufacturing environment.
- Good troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Ability to adapt to regular changes in priorities as required in a production environment.
- Strong communication and computer skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team (e.g., Lead Process Engineer, Manufacturing Representative, Process Optimization Lead).
- The following would be considered advantageous during the selection of the successful candidate(s):
- Polyalcohols process technology
- Six Sigma experience or certification (Green Belt or Black Belt)
- LEAN experience
- Plant maintenance turnaround/outage experience

This position requires all candidates to either currently possess or obtain and maintain a (TWIC) (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Card from the U. S. Department of Homeland Security.
