We are seeking an Asset Outage Specialist to join our Chemical Monomers group. The Chemical Monomers group offers a comprehensive portfolio of organic and inorganic basis materials and innovative specialties. With our monomers and basic polymers we create durable links - for the success of our customers worldwide.

The Chemical Monomers group has an opportunity for an Asset Outage Specialist in the MDI department located at the BASF Geismar, LA location.

Asset Outage Specialist (1603473)

You will lead and support TARs and outages, typically within a value chain and/or business. You are responsible for achieving milestones and outage objectives, providing outage expertise and guidance for the business, improving TAR preparation efforts, and driving TARs that are safely and effectively executed, optimizing cost and schedule duration. You will be held accountable for implementing outage strategy that is based on life cycle of asset and optimized to risk, performance, and cost.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Lead the initiation / set‐up / control and closure of LTDT projects in SAP
- Drive Scope development for operational, maintenance, and capital activities for the turnaround/outage. Responsible to evaluate scope proposals from: Power Distribution, DCS, Capital, Mechanical, Inspections, Compliance/Regulatory, Instrument, Electrical, Operations, Catalyst activities, etc. for applicable items for inclusion in scope development.
- Plan and schedule operational resources to decommission, turnover, and recommission production systems are completed. And provides input to Scheduler on system windows and optimization of scope.
- Lead scope management (additions/deletions prior to execution) including work order removal from TAR/Outage worklist and subsequent generation and placement of work order in SAP backlog in coordination with area gatekeeper.

Lead turnaround processes and meet milestones:
- Adapt standard milestone schedule and scorecard to individual outage needs. Scorecard to include cost, schedule, and efficiency tracking. Responsible for achieving outage targets as set forth by Asset Management.
- Develop communication strategy and provides status of activities to appropriate stakeholders via reports, oral, and written communications.
- Utilize Lean methodology for continuous improvement of the outage process and optimization of a given scope with focus on Critical Path.

Lead contracting strategy:
- Provide input into Site for Integrated Outage schedule that maximizes BASF’s value.
- Include collaboration with other Outage Leaders, Site Development, and Business Teams.
- Identify and coordinate with E&M to secure outside resources, as needed
- Work with Procurement to identify Business needs are addressed in outage/TAR Contracting Strategy

Provide communication status of turnaround activities to stakeholders:
- Communicate reports, oral and written, including but not limited to manpower estimates (cost, duration, required skill level and number of people) for identified work
- Communicate final budget / schedule with BU and provide updates as required

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…
- BS degree and minimum 8+ years operational, construction or maintenance experience in a chemical or petrochemical environment OR Master’s degree and minimum 6+ years operational, construction or maintenance experience in a chemical or petrochemical environment is required. Prior experience in a lead role for a small turnaround or capital project start up is preferred.
- In depth knowledge of operational field activities associated with shutting down, clearing, and starting up process systems and equipment.
- Knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory safety and health requirements (OSHA/PSM, EPA/RPM and NFPA).
- Sound knowledge of maintenance and construction work execution for all types of crafts typically used in such facilities.
- Proven leadership, demonstrated ability to lead and motivate people; strong interpersonal skills.

This position requires all candidates to either currently possess or obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Card from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
