Where the Chemistry Happens…

The selected individual will be responsible for supporting, facilitating and implementation of environment, and health and safety programs designed to assure compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements (federal, state, local). The person in this role will have expertise in both occupational safety and environmental management (wastewater discharge, storm water and hazardous waste). Additional experience in Process Safety is desirable. This position reports to the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Team Leader.

EHS Specialist Sr. (Safety) (1702252) – Geismar, LA

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Provide technical and regulatory expertise to ensure occupational safety and environmental compliance at the respective sites.
- Support the interface with regulatory agencies and third parties, as needed, on compliance and enforcement issues.
- Contribute strategic leadership and work with management on identified EHS issues/recommendations/opportunities to foster continuous improvement of EHS programs and culture.
- Assist sites with implementation of corporate standardized EHS policies and procedures. (Including but not limited to Safe Work Permits, Job Safety Analysis, Management of Change, Incident/Accident investigation, ergonomics, HAZCOM).
- Participate in capital project reviews consistent with the level of environmental, industrial hygiene, and safety expertise needed.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Engineering or Science.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in EHS; a Safety background is a plus.
- Experience maintaining and monitoring Safety and Health compliance programs.
- Familiarity with leading or participating in investigations and root cause analysis for on-site incidents.
- Background in developing training packages for regulatory changes or company policies.
- Experience/training in emergency response and/or Process Hazards Analysis is a plus.
- Must be able to interact with people at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to engage with state and federal regulatory agencies.
