Where the Chemistry Happens…

We have a great opportunity for an Industrial Networking & Systems Engineer to join our I/E Services team within the Geismar Maintenance department. This position will have site‐wide responsibilities for support of the computer networks associated with control systems and applications supporting process controls (i.e. DCS, Apprion, PIMS, PAS,PSS, Simulations, etc.., residing on the automation and IDMZ networks. Primary responsibilities will include technical leadership in the areas of server administration, system networking, and the day to day support for critical MES (i.e. manufacturing execution systems) systems that support plant automation.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Provides expert level support for all automation network equipment onsite. This includes equipment configuration associated with these systems.
- Maintain a high level of security of all computer based control systems, to include system account management, virus protection, and firewall management.
- Maintain a high level of network performance, using key diagnostic tools.
- Support and train control systems Technicians in basic maintenance of networks.
- Provide IT expertise for LAN based systems that interface to the control systems, and manage systems such as PIMs, Integrity, PAS etc.…
- Develop and maintain new applications to improve and enhance automation efforts on site.
- Provide technical support for the site mobility initiatives.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- BS or MS in Computer or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related technical discipline with appropriate Microsoft and/or Cisco certifications in networking.
- 6+ years combined work experience in the chemical industry with emphasis on network administration, production information management systems, or wireless communications support.
- Basic knowledge of the various interfaces to controls system, such as field instrumentation and control equipment.
- Demonstrated work experience in implementing process control systems, industrial communications and networking in refining or petrochemical industry.
- Strong working knowledge of networking and security of automation systems
- Working knowledge of networking and interaction between DCS, SCADA, LARS, PIMS, and IS/IT systems.
- Working knowledge of HART, fieldbus, Profibus, Asi-bus and other instrumentation communication networks and busses.
- Experience in preparing estimates for Industrial Communications & Application upgrades and additions.
- Experience in Industrial Communications & Applications start-up and troubleshooting.
- Strong communication, computer skills, and organizational skills.

This position requires all candidates to either currently possess or obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Card from the U. S. Department of Homeland Security.
