Labor Relations Specialist (1801825) – Geismar, LA

We are seeking a professional like you to be responsible for administration of the collective bargaining agreement (s), language interpretation, and support to the site leadership team at our largest manufacturing site in North America. In addition, you will be responsible for conducting employee investigations, manage compliance with federally-required affirmative action plans, as well as related equal employment opportunity responsibilities.

This role requires solid professional experience and depth in labor and employee relations, as well as the ability to work effectively with multiple levels of the organization. A successful candidate will need to possess strong business acumen, interpersonal savvy, and excellent analytical skills to add value and positive impact to the organization. Working under the supervision of the Regional Manager, Labor Relations you will frequently interact with the Corporate Labor and Employee Relations team members, legal team, line managers, union officials, employees, throughout BASF Corporation.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Formula for Success
- Leveraging your educational background and professional experience in Human Resources and Labor Relations in manufacturing environments, you will be a strategic advisor and subject matter expert to the business interpreting collective bargaining agreement (s) to help the business achieve their goals.
- Your experience in managing the grievance procedure up to and including arbitration will be valuable to the business to ensure the integrity of negotiated agreements.
- As an ethical role model, you will monitor and provide guidance on implementation of OFCCP required affirmative action plans, including coordination of response to audits if necessary.
- Successfully engaging across multiple levels of the organization, you will serve as a key member of the site negotiating committees with direct responsibility for researching and drafting company proposals, preparing cost estimates and status reports, and maintaining all negotiation records.
- Your knowledge of federal and state labor and employment laws will be crucial to your success in this role.
- Proficiency in contract negotiations, conflict resolution, grievance hearings, including arbitrations and managing labor management committees will contribute to your success in this role.
- You will utilize your prior experience to manage and foster strong positive working relationships with union leadership.
