Learning and Development Coordinator (1802686) – Geismar, LA

Where the Chemistry Happens…

This role serves as the training expert within the TDI department to promote professional and specific training and standards to establish a high-performance culture. In addition, this position will be the TDI Plant’s Success Factor Coordinator. This role is responsible for the development, implementation, and documentation of all training curriculum including specific processes, procedures, technical skills, safety refresher training, process safety training/procedures, and/or new employee qualification training. The Coordinator will ensure professional team development training and technical training is completed to promote effectiveness, consistency, and continuous improvement in a cost-effective manner. This includes collaborating with external resources to analyze needs, design, develop, and implement training, and measure effectiveness of training programs. He/she will coordinate training across the site and be responsible for the maintenance and audit of all training documents and records.

Additionally, this role serves as the key expert in procedure maintenance, updates, and development within the unit or department to specific safety, operational, quality related tasks, and responsibilities while aligning with standards, regulations, and policies. This includes establishing relationships with OJT (on the job training) mentors, subject matter experts, procedure reviewers, training reviewers, operations engineers, managers/supervisors, EHS staff and Corporate L&D peers.

This role will be integrated into daily operational processes, including safety, projects, initiatives, management of change, and other associated system management and functional processes. Specifically, the Learning and Development Coordinator will work with unit personnel at all levels to develop, update, and standardize accurate and clear procedures, work instructions/check sheets, and production documents within the training program. This also includes participation on the site safety team.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Leveraging your education, preferred Bachelor of Science in any field or experience with teaching or training, you will assess training needs, translate job requirements into training requirements, and organize instructional material both during development and in presentations.
- Your extensive experience in the chemical manufacturing will allow you lead and motivate learners by appealing to the characteristics of adult learners.
- You will continuously improve the skills and knowledge of the TDI personnel by aligning your training style to meet the needs of our diverse team.
- With your solid understanding of regulatory requirements, you will maintain, update and audit all training documents and procedures as required by Management of Change and periodic reviews.
- You will use your ability to interpret information, appraise performance, and assess training results to train all new BASF employees in the TDI plant and ensure the content is understood.
- You will use your excellent communication skills to coach employees and develop a high performance and safety-focused culture.
- Your strong attention to detail will help you track all training initiatives to ensure compliance standards are met.
- You will collaborate with peer Learning & Development Coordinators to drive best practices and consistency of training across the Geismar site.
