This position is part of a North America machinery expert group and leads maintenance, repair and turnaround activities for large complex rotating equipment and critical process machinery including planning, overhauls, inspections, repairs and preventative maintenance strategies. This role has responsibility that stretches across the entire North America region and interfaces with Production, Maintenance, and Engineering at multiple locations. The scope includes reciprocating and turbo machinery, compressors, steam and gas turbines, pumps, and industrial process machinery.

Machinery Maintenance Specialist – Technical Expertise (1701705) – Geismar, LA

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Develop repair, inspection, and overhaul job scopes, including detailed plans on critical machinery.
- Provide Quality Assurance and Quality Control of critical rotating equipment overhauls, inspections, repairs and installation, including job plans, spare parts, disassembly, assembly, machine train alignment, and ancillary systems.
- Administer task-specific instruction and direction to crafts on specific machinery maintenance items as required to ensure safety and quality of execution.
- Evaluate, develop, and direct machinery crafts to ensure proper field execution of task.
- Provide basic troubleshooting and diagnostics support for machinery. Coordinate additional technical support with rotating equipment engineers, vibration technicians, and operations as required.
- Lead development of machinery craft job skills and provide direction for critical job tasks.
- Maintain good communication with expertise team, site maintenance, and operations.

Nature and Scope:

BASF is the world's largest chemical company and the leader in sustainable chemical solutions. Heavy Duty and Critical Rotating Equipment are significant components in the manufacturing plant, requiring high reliability to ensure plant availability to meet market demands. This position works directly with Engineering & Maintenance within BASF in North America, leads and participates in regional and global collaboration teams within BASF, as well as providing guidance and supervision of third party service providers. The candidate is expected to provide expert-level and hands-on support of machinery maintenance to increase equipment reliability, using sound strategies and repair practices.
- This position works directly with Production, Engineering, and Maintenance within BASF in North America.
- The position leads and participates in regional teams, as well as providing guidance and supervision of third-party service providers.

Level of Autonomy/Decision Making Responsibility:

The candidate in this role will need to be a highly motivated self-starter, able to manage his/her workload and priorities with a minimum level of supervision. The candidate must also interface with regional teams to seamlessly integrate into maintenance processes for critical machinery.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- High School Diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 11+ year’s repair experience on large rotating equipment and critical process machinery.
- OR, Associates Degree or equivalent, with a minimum of 9+ year's repair experience on large rotating equipment and critical process machinery
- OR, Bachelors Degree with 7+ years repair experience on large rotating equipment and critical process machinery
- Demonstrated expert knowledge in methods in maintenance of large machinery (e.g., turbo, recip, screw), control concepts of large machinery, and condition and performance monitoring.
- Chemical/petrochemical plant experience with maintenance and reliability work processes, maintenance and reliability key performance indicators, and asset effectiveness measurement systems.
- Understanding of applicable industry codes, best industry practices regarding maintenance, and reliability activities and work processes.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and influence and motivate regional and global stakeholders.

This position requires all candidates to either currently possess or obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Card from the U. S. Department of Homeland Security.
