Process Technology and Process Safety Technical Support Services Manager leads the North American Process Technology and Process Safety Technical Support department. Responsibilities include providing expertise and technical support for our manufacturing plants and business units in regards to all aspects of Process Safety technical support and Process Technology.

The position provides Material Flow Analysis (MFA), and Process Technology support of small capital projects. This specialized position will manage the overall technical support, training, acquisition integration and implementation guidance for Process Safety Initiatives for small and medium sites throughout North America. Process Technology and Process Safety Technical Support Services Manager manages the MFA team, which provides support of and challenge of logistics concepts for BASF’s North America manufacturing plants in order to insure that BASF meets customers’ needs. This position will manage the process engineering support requested by NA manufacturing sites, Regional Service Centers (RSCs) or Operational Excellence Technical Process Optimization (TPO) team, regarding Process Safety, small capital projects, and TPO workshops, including implementation support of identified TPO measures.

Formula for success. You will......
- Provide Material Flow Analysis (MFA) on large capital projects, supporting the project’s logistics concepts.
- Provide detailed process technology support to sites and Regional Service Centers (RSC), including support for small capital projects.
- Process Technology Support on “Copy plants”, without process development
- Manage, support and develop process simulation models used to optimize plant process operations
- Provide technical support to TPO workshops, as requested by the TPO organization.
- Support sites with detailed process engineering services to implement TPO measures, upon request.
- Provide support of Pressure Relief Systems, Process Safety Auditing and Gap Analysis and Process Hazard Analysis and Plant Safety Concepts as requested
- Support roll out of new process safety requirement/ standards
- In cooperation with Mechanical & Machinery & Maintenance & Reliability teams, and RSC’s, assist sites in the development, implementation and training of MI programs

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for success. What we look for in you.....
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering required; degree in Chemical Engineering or Process Engineering preferred
- Master’s degree is desirable
- Minimum of 10 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment required
- Minimum 5 years of work experience in the chemical industry in an operations, maintenance and/or engineering role required
- Work experience as a Process Engineer or Operations Engineer is preferred.
- Experience directly managing others required
- Ability to manage a self-directed, experienced and highly qualified team of experts
- Knowledge of a wide variety of chemical production processes
- Strong technical knowledge in the fundamentals of unit operations design, process simulation modeling, and pressure relief systems design
- Good familiarity with Codes, standards and RAGAGEPs in the area of Process Safety and Mechanical Integrity
- Ability to influence, motivate all stakeholders to create value in all processes related to Mechanical Integrity
- Strong interpersonal skills such as communication, administration, personal motivation and personal adaptability skills, with the ability to work with various organizational levels and functions
- Understanding of intercultural differences in order to work as part of a global service offering management team
- Knowledge of PSM/RMP requirements, Ecology, Health and Safety Standards and Project Development Process
