Where the Chemistry Happens…

The Utilities department provides clarified water, treated water, steam, electricity, and compressed air to one of BASF’s largest integrated sites in North American. The Wastewater plant treats the effluent from over 26 production units on site. Through chemistry and a complex set of assets, the Utilities department serves as the heartbeat of the site.

The Utilities department has an opportunity for a Production Manager for the Utilities and Wastewater Treatment Plant in our Geismar, LA location.

Production Manager – Utilities & Wastewater (1703418) – Geismar, LA

The Production Manager reports to the Production Director and is responsible for the daily operation of the Utilities and Wastewater plants. S/he aligns both daily and strategic teams and is responsible for improving resource management, technology innovation, EHS performance, profitability, and building employee capabilities. The Production Manager is responsible for leadership and development of employees in an organization of up to 50 direct and indirect reports.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Establish tactical goals and objectives for the production team to ensure continuous improvement, and ensure clear communication lines between day staff and shift operations. Work to collaborate, coordinate, and influence operations, maintenance, support and others to maintain safe plant operation. Provide direction and resolution for budget changes (both production accounts and maintenance accounts).
- Support the strategic objectives of the value chain by alignment of strategies with daily operations. Identify and remove barriers to the success of the production team.
- Identify and implement work process changes, knowledge transfer requirements, and methods to enable transitions required to support the organization implementation/transition. Ensure completion of management review and other periodic reviews of compliance programs.
- Coach and develop personnel (salaried and hourly) into high-performance teams that exemplify the culture and behaviors required by BASF. Participate in recruiting, interviewing, and selection of employees. Prepare and implement succession plans.
- Identify training needs of production team and leverage the Learning and Development Coordinator role to identify and provide necessary training
- Accountable for ensuring compliance with EHS requirements for this PSM/RMP plant. Serve as Leader for all EHS and Quality Audits within the cluster.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…
- BS Degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or other applicable Technical degree and minimum 10+ years of experience in a chemical/petrochemical or other similar manufacturing environment required. Prior experience leading people and/or teams is required.
- Proven Supervisory and Leadership Skills and excellent communications and human relations skills are required
- Strong technical skills and ability to solve complex problems
- Ability to lead by example and sets environment for taking risks within the organization by addressing constraints and enabling resources
- Fosters the integration of a diversity of perspectives across the organization resulting in development of high performing teams and output
- Ability to establish an environment that Involves, trusts, and optimizes a diverse, high performing team and creates a vision that fosters a sense of common ownership
