Formula for Success: You Will…

Chemical Production Operators are responsible for conducting the daily activities related to the manufacturing operations of the chemical facility. Operators must be available and willing to work various shifts; including night, weekends, and holidays.

Operator responsibility and accountability includes, but is not limited to:
- Act in a manner that ensures all BASF standards are maintained in the areas of safety, environmental, quality manufacturing and individual and team performance.
- Follow BASF and GSH (Geismar System Hub) values, principles, and procedures while maintaining an acceptable attendance and safety record.
- With minimal supervision, follow work procedures and batch recipe instructions displayed on an HMI (Human Machine Interface) to manufacture polyurethane products through both automatic and manual raw material additions to blending vessels.
- Transfer raw materials in totes, drums or other packages to the blend vessel area via sit down or stand up forklifts. .
- Package finished products from the blending vessels into tank trucks, totes or drums using semi-automatic packaging systems.
- With minimal supervision, safely and efficiently perform the duties as required in all areas of the GSH including: Production, Tank Truck Handling, Shipping/Receiving docks, Tank Farm, and wireless warehouse.
- Develop or change operational procedures to maintain safe work conditions and practices resulting from projects and equipment or process changes
- Perform emergency response activities, as required.
- Consistently and accurately complete all associated paperwork
- Demonstrate team work skills consistent with BASF principles
- Inspect satellite waste accumulation areas for compliance, assist in the segregation and shipment of hazardous, non-hazardous, and universal wastes from the BASF GSH.
- Provide honest and direct communication to both peers and supervisors.
- Maintain the highest level of housekeeping in work area and other areas assigned
- Performs special projects as requested and/or assigned
- Participate in all aspects of Process Safety including AIM report investigations, MOC’s PSSRs, Mechanical integrity, SOP’s, Hazard analysis, etc.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing industry experience required

Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 years experience in the Chemical and/or manufacturing experience highly preferred
- PTEC or other post-secondary technical program preferred
- Strong technical and mechanical aptitude
- Hands-on DCS and PLC experience required

This position requires all candidates to either currently possess or obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Card from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
