Where the Chemistry Happens…

We are seeking a Reliability Specialist Technician to work in our Geismar, LA site and be responsible for performing daily task vibration data collection, analysis, documentation and reporting results

Reliability Specialist Technician (1704454) – Geismar, LA

This position is responsible for executing condition monitoring of machinery as an integral component of the overall reliability program for the site. Primary responsibilities include vibration data collection, analysis, documentation and reporting results. Other responsibilities may also include involvement in troubleshooting and/or Root Cause Failure Analyses and providing recommendations based on equipment condition.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Conduct field data collection on operating machines according to the Predictive Maintenance Schedule or a special request
- Analyze vibration data using historical data and computerized statistical and diagnostic tools, document results, and make recommendations based on as-found condition. Report results to field Operations and to assigned Maintenance and Reliability Engineers
- Maintain and manage the equipment monitoring (vibration) database, including Predictive Maintenance schedules, frequencies, recommendations, and follow-up comments from the field
- Participate in failure analysis and problem-solving activities for rotating equipment using vibration data and other equipment condition data
- Assess repair quality by conducting vibration analysis on repaired equipment establishing baseline vibration signature.
- Perform witness acceptance testing on rotating equipment that is repaired at off-site facilities
- Track and report number of data points collected each month
- Track and report number of special requests completed each month as a percentage of total points taken
- Manage and service all vibration collection monitors as per service agreement
- Participate in annual assessment of vibration routes for predetermined equipment
- Assist with design, installation and repair of permanent vibration monitoring systems during equipment shutdowns
- Assist with purchase of vibration monitoring equipment as appropriate
- Make recommendations for upgrades of vibration monitoring equipment as equipment becomes obsolete
- Assist with machine shop audits
- Assist with motor repair shop audits
- Participate in development of critical equipment list for all units

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum Level III ISO Certification from a recognized organization
- Minimum 3 years of experience in vibration data collection and evaluation in an
- industrial environment
- General knowledge of mechanical equipment design and maintenance and
- reliability activities associated with rotating equipment
- Ability to communicate effectively with facts and figures along with the ability to influence, persuade and negotiate. Strong interpersonal skills are required in this position

- General knowledge of SAP
- Strong background in equipment troubleshooting, including root cause failure analysis and implementation of improvement efforts
- Direct experience with rotating equipment repair
- Thorough background in utilization of PdM tools (vibration analysis, lube oil analysis, thermography, etc.) for equipment condition evaluation and improvement
- Experience with optimization of equipment PM activities and strategies

This position requires all candidates to either current possess or obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Cardd from the U. S. Dept. of Homeland Security.
