Where the Chemistry Happens…

We are seeking a Senior MES/PIMS Engineer to join our Automation team within our Manufacturing Support Services department.

This position will be located in Geismar, LA, Wyandotte, MI, or the greater Houston area and requires

25-30% travel. Candidate must currently possess, or obtain, and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Card from the U. S. Department of Homeland Security.

Senior MES/PIMS Engineer (1700496)

You will identify, champion, implement and maintain Automation, MES and Automation/MES Maintenance applications, thereby providing a key contribution to the North American manufacturing sites on their Journey to Operational Excellence.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Focus Item leadership as designated within the MSS Process Control / Automation group including leadership, guidance for and development of Automation/MES Maintenance service models, including business case development, policies, procedures, and implementation.
- Actively involved as a technical expert for MES systems, including Tier 2 & 3 layer of support for sites within the North American Region with Automation/MES Issues, which involves MES Application Engineering & Trouble shooting, MES Support & Maintenance, Training and Awareness
- Develop solutions and procedures to integrate MES systems with Operational Excellence and LEAN activities on sites. This includes active collaboration with the regional Operational Excellence organization NCE/S.
- Provide Tier 1 support for all sites in North American region on Automation & MES issues, as needed.
- Actively serve as Global MES liaison
- Participate with North American Process Control and Automation Team members, including North American CoEs, which may also include CoE Leadership opportunities within Process Control CoE, Instrument Control CoE, and/or SIS CoE.
- Provide guidance and support of Automation Security initiatives under the direction of the North American Process Control and Automation group.
- Provide guidance for the North American region on Automation / Control Systems / MES.
- Manage and control MSS – Process Control / Automation projects in North America
- Lead teams to accomplish required task and deliverables

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering Discipline or other related technical field and 6 years of experience in chemical industry automation and MES or Associate's degree in Engineering or Computer Technology and 9+ years combined work experience in the chemical industry with emphasis on Manufacturing Execution Systems (Plant Information Management systems - PIMs, Dashboarding, mobile applications, and wireless)
- Strong technical knowledge in Process Controls, networking, security, MES applications and control systems
- Proficiency in DCS, MES, Automation Security, and networking
- Strong knowledge of the BASF partnered DCS systems and BASF MES Applications Expertise
- Strong computer skills with SQL scripting capability
- SCADA system knowledge
- Wired/wireless networking knowledge

You May Also Have…
- Demonstrated work experience in identifying and resolving control system and field instrumentation issues in the Chemicals, Refining or Petrochemicals industry is an advantage.
- Experience with MES systems, DCS Configuration, and other similar software applications will be required, but can be acquired through developmental training while working in the position.
