Description
This is a position focused on long-term and strategic improvements to the site's electrical infrastructure, which includes >480V to 230kV power distribution and UPS equipment and systems. Key responsiblities include:
- Providing technical support and guidance with regard to electrical distribution to Production, Maintenance, and Engineering Design personnel.
- Applying appropriate reliability tools and KPIs to drive electrical improvements, optimize costs, and improve reliability
- Provide technical input for the site master plan for electrical infrastructure. This includes plans for migration of obsolete equipment and installation of higher efficiency equipment as needed. The master plan is intended to support long term reliability of the plant as well as proactive consideration of future plant growth.
- Leading electrical initiatives related to safety, reliability, and long-term growth.
- Providing support related to safety regulations and standards for electrical maintenance
- Development and upkeep of electrical maintenance strategy
- Establishing, monitoring, and optimizing Electrical PM and PdM plans and development of critical equipment plans.
- Evaluating new technologies and industry trends related to electrical distribution
- Identifying and recommending changes to existing power distribution system to meet business needs.
- Developing UPS maintenance strategy and support design of new UPS system.
- Serve as technical consultant for the development of the site master plan for electrical infrastructure.
- Participate on (and perhaps lead) site and North America electrical expert teams
- Performing calculations to support power coordination, relaying, and arc flash studies.
- Support capital projects by supplying engineering expertise in the specification, design, and construction of capital projects in accordance with plant design requirements and BASF and regulatory standards.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
This position requires a BS in Electrical Engineering with 10+ years experience in electrical maintenance, specifically including >480V. BASF recognizes institutions of higher education that are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent.
Desired qualifications:
- 12 Plus years of industrial electrical engineering experience
- Experience in maintenance and design of UPS systems
- Experience in performing calculations to support coordination, relaying, etc.
- Experience in reliability tools and techniques
- Experience with arc flash standards, calculations, and mitigations
- Experience in electrical design/standards.
