Strategic Human Resources Manufacturing Advisor (1701990) – Geismar, LA

This role provides Strategic HR support to a site or sites which, due to their size and/or complexity and/or composition of the workforce (e.g. large temporary labor or contract labor pools), requires an HR presence. Through predictive analytics and monthly calls, s/he enables a site leader and his/her leadership team in the areas of Employee Relations, Labor Relations, Engagement, and Culture.

This role reports to a Strategic Human Resource Business Advisor (SHRBA) and serves as a member of the Labor Relations Council. The individual will identify needs and strategically contract for the delivery of services through effective alignment with HR Centers of Excellence (CoEs), Labor Relations, Core Talent Solution Delivery Teams, and myHR.

The successful candidate will serve as a member of the Geismar site leadership team.

The Strategic Human Resource Manufacturing Advisor (SHRMA) is a business person that puts customers first while enabling a winning together environment.

This position influences for impact and plans and manages solution delivery resources. In addition, the individual acts as a coach for, and consults with, site leaders and their leadership teams. In partnership with CoEs and solution delivery teams, the role co-creates strategies to address challenges related to employee relations, labor relations, engagement, and culture at the site level.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Share local engagement pulse, insights, and trends with the respective business unit's (BU's) SHRBA in order to shape human capital strategy.
- Identify opportunities to shape Employee Relations, Labor Relations, Engagement, and Culture strategies at the site level.
- Strategically contract for the delivery of HR solutions at one or multiple sites with the COEs, the Core Talent Solutions Team (CTST), Labor Relations, and myHR as needed.
- Ensure support and alignment with corresponding BU SHRBAs and other relevant functions such as Legal and EHS; spot trends and critical issues facing assigned locations; and recommend solutions to address site needs.
- Perform effective workforce analytics to proactively identify issues and take immediate action in the areas of Turnover, Diversity, Absenteeism, Performance Management, Hot Line Complaints, Safety, and Site Practices and Guidelines.
- Partner with BU SHRBAs, COEs, and Labor Relations team to identify trends related to critical issues, and support the creation and implementation of strategies to support the sites in areas including, but not limited to, collective bargaining and related operational topics such as discipline, grievances, arbitration, and operational disciplinary procedures and processes.
- Secure actions to maintain a high level of employee engagement at the sites including leveraging CoE tools/programs through solution delivery to drive employee engagement; identify needs for manager capability building at the site level, contract for solutions to ensure a robust pipeline of future leaders for BASF; define needs for site employee communications, and contract for solutions; receive from CoE(s) external labor market pulse for trends, and include results in strategy planning; outline needs for union avoidance solutions, and contracting with CoE to provide them; and contracting for site talent planning solutions as needed.
- Coordinate with BU SHRBAs and Labor Relations teams to create and sustain a great employee experience, contract with CoEs and solution delivery teams to support site leader/employee coaching and development; union avoidance; employer value proposition; general employee resource groups; and community and other external partnerships.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor’s degree required in Human Resources or a related field.
- A minimum of 8 years of progressive HR experience in a complex manufacturing environment, including in-depth Production site expertise.
- Thorough understanding of HR solutions, policies, and practices; prior Labor Relations experience.
- Strong project management, consulting, negotiation, conflict resolution, and communication skills combined with ability to effectively operate in a virtual setting.
- Business and leadership acumen with capacity to influence and manage organizational change.
- Ability to travel to 40% of the time.
