Where the Chemistry Happens…

This position is primarily responsible for the development and execution of the Geismar Surfactants Capital Plan, both divisional and central. The Tech Team Lead works closely with EM Capital/Technology Manager in the capital planning process to ensure debottlenecking projects, hazop action items, Safety Projects, and Reliability projects included in the EM 5-year Capital Plan.

Technology Team Leader (1704967) – Geismar, LA

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Responsible for all EM Hazops and the compliance to the Hazop schedule all the while insuring the EM meets the compliance to GUS procedures 20M, 40M, and 50M.
- Communicate with the global EMT team on critical safety concept and PT curve development.
- Collaborate with the EM Wyandotte group in the development of new PDS' within the Geismar Surfactants product portfolio.
- Own the MOC process for the Geismar Surfactants plants, insuring compliance to the PSM regulations. GUS 20M requires that all BASF facilities have a plant safety concept and that these concepts meet the intent of 20M and are documented accordingly,
- Ensure compliance to all GUS safety requirements.
- Responsible for the Geismar Surfactants alarm management plan, Facility Siting plans, AFPD reduction plans, Oxide safety concepts, and PSI reduction plants.
- Support the Operations team on an as-needed basis with troubleshooting of the Surfactants.
- Direct a team of 3 technologists to ensure compliance to all the above requirements and responsibilities.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry required.
- At least 10 years of Production Management experience preferred, along with a good working knowledge of capital projects process, hazops, and continuous improvement process.
- Six Sigma and Lean qualifications are preferred.
- Experience with PrimaTech Software & PSM/RMP Safety Management desired.
- Understanding of CGMP regulations are a plus.
- Travel up to 15%
