Where the Chemistry Happens…

In this role, you will lead and provide oversight for the maintenance team as assigned.

The function is to ensure a safe and efficient execution of plant maintenance, maintain a safe and reliable facility, oversee maintenance contractors to ensure effectiveness, and achieve BASF expectations for best-in-class maintenance performance.

This position assures efficient and effective utilization of maintenance staffing, tools, and equipment. Areas of responsibility include administering the maintenance processes and budget.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Provide leadership and oversight for maintenance associates, including the planner and utility operators, and communicate with the appropriate individuals regarding personnel issues, including performance and staffing level requirements.
- Collaborate with operations personnel in troubleshooting problems and implementing improvements, provide guidance and training as appropriate to promote proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
- Manage requisitions, schedules, and outside contractors and suppliers of maintenance services performing work at the site or in offsite shops.
- Provide primary input to preparing the maintenance budget, and controls spending through appropriate tracking, forecasting, and adjustments.
- Monitor key performance indicators, and support and implement continuous improvements to the maintenance work processes to enhance plant availability.
- Ensure proper documentation of files, records, databases, and drawings to meet regulatory and BASF requirements.
- Seek compliance with all environmental, safety, and health requirements, and promote a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with the site Reliability Engineer to maintain and improve plant reliability through identifying/correcting bad actors, conducting root cause failure analyses, meeting mechanical integrity requirements, and implementing preventive/predictive maintenance programs.
- Demonstrate basic process safety knowledge as well as the ability to identify and assess risks in everyday operations, understand the protective measures and emergency responses for the unit processes, and the interaction of Process Safety procedures.
- Support Process Safety programs through participation in compliance audits, Capital Project Reviews, Regulatory PHAs (Revalidations, Clean-Sheets) and other hazard/risk assessment activities. Assure associates that support process safety programs have the requisite experience/skills. Participate in process safety related incident investigations and complete assigned action items in a timely manner.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- High School diploma/Equivalent required.
- Experience leading or managing a team.
- Strong interpersonal skills, analytical thinking, communication, customer focus, entrepreneurial acting/change agent, and coaching.
- Industrial experience regarding chemical plant design, maintenance, operations, and troubleshooting is an asset.
- General knowledge of rotating and stationary equipment repair, construction and installation techniques.
- General computer skills, as well as user knowledge of SAP maintenance functions preferred.
- Familiarity or ability to learn best industry practices regarding maintenance and work processes.
- Ability to learn BASF Technical standards, accounting practices, and procurement policies.
