Sales at BASF revolves around the customer experience and driving profitable growth. The foundation for this is a strong team that brings specific application, industry and market knowledge in order to understand the diverse markets where we play and build trusting and satisfying customer relationships.

We are seeking an Account Manager, Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) Catalysts to join our BASF Refining Catalysts (FCC Catalysts) team. The Refining Catalysts Team supplies fluid cracking catalysts, additives, and technical support of products to the oil refining business throughout the world. The catalysts are used to convert the heavy fraction of crude oil to useable and more valuable products to be used as fuels (gasoline and heating oil) and chemical feedstocks (propylene and butylene).

Account Manager, Fluid Cracking Catalyst (1604014)

You would manage all aspects of customer accounts and relationships for the assigned territory and customer portfolio to meet sales, technical service, market share, and profitability targets. You will have accountability for all commercial and technical service activities related to the assigned FCC Catalysts customer portfolio, in addition to supporting R&D, Marketing, and Supply Chain activities to meet customer needs.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Ensure a safety culture that supports BASF values, the business segment safety metrics, and our customer safety objectives.
- Overall financial responsibility for the assigned sales territory and account portfolio, which includes financial metrics targeting volume, margin, costs, and receivables.
- Leverage the overall FCC Catalysts Division (CCR) global strategy to develop territory and customer strategies. Strategies shall be supported by well-defined implementation plans to execute against key strategic objectives to accelerate growth, to properly position our product offering with the customer base, and to maximize market penetration.
- Identify new business opportunities and enhance existing customer relationships through relationship mapping and account penetration
- Responsible for sales forecasting, pricing, CRM tool management, and other projects as assigned to support account management activities
- Demonstrate leadership and the ability to work cross-functionally within BASF to promote BASF FCC products, technology, innovation and goodwill within the region.
- Evaluate requests for technical and commercial proposals, including performing a detail technical analysis, technical modeling and simulations, performing pricing evaluations and developing commercials terms when required.
- Liaise with customer technical and operational teams to advise and assist with technical troubleshooting, offering consultation and implementing modeling scenarios to solve operational issues specific refinery processes or the FCC unit.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key customer personnel, as well as key external stakeholders to enhance commercial effectiveness and drive financial results. The Account Manager will manage all relationships between the regional refineries and BASF.
- Consistent demonstration of commercial excellence during the life cycle of a customer relationship.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Materials Science and 7+ years of refining experience and/or refining licensor background with at least 5+ years of FCC process experience required.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of the oil refining industry with solid understanding of refining processes is required.
- Previous sales/account management or marketing experience with global exposure to the refining industry and customer relationships is highly desired and preferred.
- Customer-facing experience in a sales or technical role required.
- Ability to perform technical modeling and process simulations utilizing modeling software
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time both domestically and internationally.
