Where the Chemistry Happens…

This position will serve as the primary BASF representative responsible for ensuring satisfactory execution of the maintenance contract(s) across the Gulf Coast region and remaining potential sites across North America (NA) from a technical perspective. This role is the single point of contact with Mechanical and E&I Contractors. As a result, you will be responsible for developing a strategic plan to ensure best practices are in place across NA, remove obstacles preventing performance improvements, monitoring the performance against the established KPIs, and assisting the sites in achieving the desired results.

Gulf Coast Senior Contractor Manager (1800249) – Houston, TX

This position will define and implement the technical requirements of the contracts that are to be negotiated (e.g., GC E&I, bidding).

This is a developmental position with a term of 2 to 3 years and supports development towards senior level technical management opportunities.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Prepare and execute a plan to ensure best practices are in place across NA.
- Train the different sites in the proper execution of the overarching contracts, their requirements, and in meeting performance objectives.
- Ensure the sites execute the performance-based contract and drive value through performance targets.
- Act as single point-of-contact to support organizational alignment.
- Drive partnership culture with current and future contractors.
- Ensure performance targets and incentives are clearly understood; verify measurement process is recognized and reviewed as per the contract(s).
- Evaluate how performance metrics are supporting BASF’s goals and develop applicable goals for next evaluation period. Ensure fees are aligned and reconciled with performance targets for sites.
- Act as liaison with sites and contractors to facilitate action where appropriate.
- Drive standardization across sites.
- Support site execution teams in addressing challenges, opportunities, and resolving conflicts.
- Support future work planning preparation between companies (e.g., Outages, TAR’s, Capital Projects).
- Monitor health of relationships between teams and foster mutually beneficial environment.
- Leverage best resources within both companies to solve technical (operational) issues.
- Identify resources that may be shared between sites.
- Interface with the Procurement Contract Manager for contract issues.
- Monitor craft contractor labor market versus contractor average bare rates
- Serve as an interface between the Site Management Teams, Cross Site Safety Team, Operational Management Team, Corporate Management Team (commercial and operational), and the Executive Steering Team.
- Plan and coordinate the Executive Steering Team and Operational Management meetings, set meeting dates and locations, send out meeting invitations, prepare agendas, take meeting minutes, and drive timely completion of action items in collaboration with contractor counterpart and other companies.
- Define technical aspects of the contract to be negotiated.
- Ensure the technicalities of the contract are Implemented by contractors.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
- Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
- At least 10 years of experience in managing contractors and contracts,
- Maintenance and small capital construction experience is highly preferred
- Proven communication, influencing, and leadership skills
- Demonstrated negotiation skills, particularly for contract implementation and modifications.
- Proven ability in supervising and leadership.
