Where the Chemistry Happens…

We are seeking a Cost Control Engineer to work within our Corporate Engineering Services Department to hold responsibility for providing cost control supporting capital projects and turnarounds throughout North America.

Project Cost Control Engineer Sr. (1702265) – Houston, TX

You will work both independently and with a team in carrying out project's cost control and forecasting efforts.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Provide cost controls for large capital investments and turnarounds of various size and complexity.
- Actively participate in the overall cost control process, ensuring proper progress tracking and change management systems are in place, and effectively functioning in detailed engineering and construction phases of projects.
- Provide proper variance explanation and root causes analysis of changes.
- Develop turnaround estimates, project and turnaround cost forecasts, and preparing project and turnaround cost reports.
- Assist in the development and improvement of cost controlling and tools and processes.
- Apply strong analytical skills that will allow proper assessments of projects to identify potential issues. In addition, ability to support development and recommend solutions via communication and support with Project Management.
- Perform studies and analysis.
- Carry out bid analysis for complex service contracts.
- Execute audits of invoices.
- Evaluate filed change orders and validate contractor estimate and pricing.
- Develop and support of contracting strategy for projects and turnarounds.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance/Accounting, or Mathematics, with at least 7 years of relevant degreed professional experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering, procurement, accounting or construction practices, in a chemical / petrochemical or similar manufacturing environment.
- 3 or more years of experience in project cost control.
- Availability for 25% travel in support of the business.
- Ability to work in a diverse team environment, with sound quality orientation and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and excellent computer skills.
- Good communication skills.

- Knowledge of SAP maintenance and project systems.
