FTN is part of the Global Competence Center for capital projects, technical expertise, maintenance, and turnarounds in the North American Region. FTN provides functional leadership and offers services for technical design, construction, maintenance and optimization of plants in pursuit of Operational Excellence.

The FTN Organization has an opportunity in our Technical Expertise team as a Technical Materials Lead Engineer housed in our Houston, TX location.

Technical Materials Management (TMM) Engineer (1704263) – Houston, TX

The role is responsible for leading regionally, and participating globally, in the development of programs and processes that improve TMM, and significantly reduces spend on technical materials, and improves overall processes from Engineering and Maintenance, including Procurement and Warehouse Management. The successful candidate will lead and support all North America Engineering and Maintenance users of TMM Work Processes, and serve as a collaboration leader toward the alignment of global support. The role will be responsible for implementing, developing, and maintaining TMM Work process training materials, and provide on-site and virtual training courses, as well as to address daily issues impacting the user community.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Initiate, lead, and drive optimization projects and programs to reduce total cost of supply for all Technical Materials used in Chemical Plants.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, Procurement and Warehousing to improve current Technical Materials Processes.
- Fully implement TMM processes into the North America Engineering Processes
- Lead the collaboration with external service providers and vendors to insure a reliable supply of technical materials to all sites, while reducing inventory level and materials variety.
- Organize and participate in optimization workshops to improve Technical Materials Management.
- Develop and optimize Regional TMM Processes, Methods, and Tools to simplify material usage and searching.
- Travel extensively to address site issues, implement training procedures, lead workshops, demonstrate best practices, and interact with all levels of management.
- Provide expertise in the field of TMM with regard to process and projects, with the goal of addressing demanding and time-sensitive issues that impact all chemical materials used by our plants.
- Responsible for the regional TMM Process and Project framework supporting current business, mergers, and acquisitions.
- Lead long- and short-term projects related to TMM processes that impact the regional and global TMM Process and Project Community.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor’s degree required in Engineering or a related technical discipline and a minimum of 6 years of experience in either Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain for Technical Materials, or Technical Procurement; advanced degree is desirable.
- A detailed understanding of operational Technical Materials processes from Engineering to Maintenance, including Procurement and Warehouse Management.
- Familiarity with IT Tools used in TMM processes across the Plant Life Cycle
- Awareness of capital project management processes.
- SAP experience with project systems; additional experience with maintenance systems and warehousing systems is desirable.
- Ability to influence and motivate all regional/global stakeholders to create value in all processes related to technical materials management.
- Strong interpersonal skills needed to work with various organizational levels and functions.
- Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to lead regional and global experts to provide innovative solutions to complex issues.
- Ability to create new strategic procedures and system enhancements that will be used both regionally and globally.
- A fundamentally open attitude to new things, as well as the deliberate search for novel solutions and scope for optimization in the field of TMM supporting Engineering, Maintenance, Procurement, and Warehousing.

This position requires all candidates to either currently possess or obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Card from the U. S. Department of Homeland Security.
