Where the Chemistry Happens…

We are currently seeking a Process Engineer to work in our Automotive Catalyst Manufacturing division. The candidate will be responsible for all technical support for the Automotive Catalyst Manufacturing process, with focus on ensuring new product launches are successful in coating. The PPAP (Initial Production event) will require significant attention, with learnings to be applied throughout the production process to drive improvements in productivity and quality while meeting site requirements and goals. In addition, he/she will support operations in the performance of production troubleshooting, as well lead efforts to improve coater cycle times, optimization of the coating process after PPAP’s, scrap reduction, and slurry rheology.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Hold ownership of the new product launch process and lead the creation of all necessary documentation.
- Conduct production trial runs and provide support on maintaining departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Assist troubleshooting of production issues at coating operations.
- Collect and analyze coating data.
- Manage special projects related to safety, productivity, 5S, lean manufacturing, and visual management.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Process Engineering.
- Demonstrated ability to identify problems and opportunities in the related areas and define, structure, plan, and implement improvement projects to satisfy site, business group, and corporate objectives.
- Working knowledge of statistical process controls, statistical analysis, and quality improvement processes/tools.
- Ability to build relationships at all levels within the organization.
- Flexibility to work a rotating schedule that includes weekends

- Experience with Rockwell, Allen Bradley, Siemens programming
- Experience with Minitab, SAP, MS Excel, PowerPoint, SQL, VBA and Word.
- Six Sigma Green Belt
- Lean Manufacturing experience
- PLC programming knowledge
- Technical knowledge of inorganic batch chemical unit operations – mixing, wet milling, slurry pumping, powder handling, drying process
- Automotive Industry experience
- Familiarity with quality systems; ISO TS 16949
