Where the Chemistry Happens…

At the BASF Huntsville Site, we make the chemistry and technology used in vehicle catalytic convertors and other environmental products. As part of our team, employees help us conceive, design, implement and validate new equipment, technologies, and processes to help make our world's environment cleaner.

We are seeking a Programmer who will contribute to this effort by controlling equipment units or systems that process, by batch, large quantities of raw materials, to include high-priced precious metals, into catalytic slurries utilizing an array of technologies. Each batch is processed according to work instructions, knowledge of operating procedures, chemical reactions, laboratory test results, and correlation of process instrumentation.

The individual in this role will provide programming support for all process equipment through the development and implementation of software changes to improve productivity, reduce cost, and improve safety. This process requires taking a production concept or process and developing the control scheme, the PLC or HMI program, installation of the software on the equipment, and working with process engineers to refine the program. In addition, the role includes worldwide support for Catalyst Emissions (CCE) sites and joint venture partners.

*Task must be performed within the requirements of the IATF 16949:2016 process.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Provide programming support for all processing/manufacturing equipment, and manage assigned projects to timely completion within budget scope.
- Develop, install, and maintain software for process changes and machine alterations by request from site process engineers, maintenance department, operations, and project engineering personnel, as well as worldwide CCE operations and joint venture partners.
- Establish and/or modify work procedures to meet site demands, and recommend corrective actions to improve maintenance and production operations.
- Engage with project engineering and equipment vendors to optimize equipment automation during machine development, installation, and start-up.
- Assist in developing annual maintenance and facilities goals and objectives; support controlling of maintenance costs to satisfy established site budget.
- Lend PLC and HMI support for the Huntsville maintenance department, and train maintenance personnel for continuous development of individual skills and knowledge.
- Maintain back-up software files for Huntsville process equipment, and requisition necessary repair materials.
- Align with TES Manager to achieve site and CCE objectives.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- AS degree or Technical School Certification required, BS preferred
- 5+ years related experience with industrial automation and machine integration
- Training or certification plus practical experience with at least one of the following software programs: Allen Bradley Panelview,RSLogix, FTBatch, FTSE, FTME and S-88 Standard; HMI - Wonderware INTOUCH; Siemens - Simatic S7, Simovis, and Simocom U, Starter, S7 Technology, TIA Portal, Profibus, Profinet and Profisafe.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Requires advanced computer skills with a working knowledge of industrial PLC and HMI software.
- Must have an extensive understanding of industrial control systems including instrumentation; a highly skilled understanding of industrial mechanical systems and industrial robotic systems; project management and budget control experience.
- Able to work in a team environment. Must manage multiple projects. Job requires flexibility and world travel based on a project basis.

Preferred
- Knowledge of one of the following, Machine Safety Systems and Integration, Industrial Printer control interfaces, 2D Verification and Vision Inspection systems, or RFID systems
- SQL Database Familiarity
- Familiarity with Data Tracking and Capture
- Quality systems knowledge and automotive experience desired but not required.
