Quality Control and Testing Lab Manager (1802646) – Huntsville, AL

Where the Chemistry Happens

As the Quality Control and Testing Lab Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day activities of the Quality Control and testing lab for the Clean Air (CCN) business unit of the BASF Catalysts (CC) division. Part of the Huntsville, AL location is dedicated to production and testing for the Clean Air business, which is certified according to aerospace quality management system AS9100 and other relevant aviation regulations related to FAA/EASA/CAAC certification. You will be responsible for 3-4 direct reports and the Quality Control group’s overall performance, including inspections of all incoming raw materials and finished products against production specifications and for ensuring the compliance of work procedures and adherence to quality systems.

Formula for Success
- Leveraging your education in engineering or a related technical field, you manage the quality control and testing lab functions for the Clean Air business at the Huntsville location.
- Utilizing you previous related experience working in a manufacturing environment, you will maintain lab procedures, ensure adherence to FAA regulations, update lab equipment as needed and plan material resources, staffing and work flow.
- Acting as a role model, you will lead and supervise employees to ensure all safety policies and procedures are understood and followed and will take immediate steps to correct any unsafe working conditions.
- Engaging across the organization, you will communicate cross-functionally throughout the site and will participate in audits and root cause analysis with production, engineering, and quality assurance.
- Leveraging your previous supervisor experience in a manufacturing environment, you will Analyze and resolve work problems, resolve disciplinary issues, conduct performance evaluations, maintain attendance records and payroll process for assigned employees and, overall, enable the team to become more self-sufficient through providing training and coaching.
- Utilizing your analytical ability and knowledge of manufacturing, you will identify areas of improvement and will lead continuous improvement projects to improve overall quality outcomes at the site.
