Where the Chemistry Happens…

BASF is looking for an energetic, thoughtful and creative individual who will join the global communications team to support internal and external communications for our Mobile Emission Catalysts business unit, using multiple communications channels and methods to create impactful communications that are aligned with the business strategy. This position will report into to the Global Catalysts Communications leader, and will be a member of the Global Communication team and Mobile Emission Catalysts Leadership Team.

This position will create communications plans that promote awareness, engagement, understanding, and transparency, while also promoting the company goals and collaborating across different functions and teams. The ideal candidate will be energized by building and experimenting with communications across multiple channels. Above all, this position’s work will have a high impact.

CCE Global Communications Manager (1801608) – Iselin, NJ

The Mobile Emission Catalysts, Global Communications Manager will work closely with the Head of Communications to build communications platforms across Catalysts. The Manager role supports stakeholders within the business to provide compelling and informative messages, and to develop communications strategies.

This position will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of global and regional communications strategies for the Mobile Emission Catalysts business unit – including marketing communications, branding, issues management, internal communications, public relations, leadership updates, and customer events.

The Manager will analyze and convey important metrics to determine the success of communication programs.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Marketing Communications
- Plan global and regional marketing communications activities for the Mobile Emission Catalysts business unit based on product, segment, and customer strategies.
- Implement marketing communications activities for product launches, technical center and plant openings, customer events and promotions, trade fairs and exhibitions, industry forums and conferences, product advertising, and the Internet.
- Collaborate with the global communications team and marketing functions to convert campaigns for new and existing target markets.
- Facilitate information management among the business Marketing and Marketing Communications groups.
- Branding
- Lead product branding strategy for the business as part of the global branding strategy.
- Provide systematic and continuous exploitation of branding opportunities.
- Issues Management
- Identify current and emerging issues (BASF and Mobile Emissions Catalysts topics, as well as industry-related, social, economic, cultural, or otherwise) that are likely to affect the organization, leadership, and perception among key stakeholders.
- Partner with the global and regional communications network to build strategic communications plans to proactively manage these issues protect and enhance the company’s reputation, communications effectiveness, and brand.
- Internal Communications
- establish and execute efficient team communications strategies within the Mobile Emission Catalysts business unit.
- Develop and maintain internal communications tools such as online content, bulletins, and leadership messages.
- Organize employee meetings to facilitate open communication between management and employees.
- Support communications processes and global/regional communications teams to develop effective employee communications materials and content.
- Public Relations Function
- Implement public relations in close cooperation with divisional, corporate, and regional communications teams to ensure coordination and alignment in all communications-related matters, including trade media.
- Screen trade publications and foster good working contacts with trade journalists.
- Collaborate with marketing, business, and other teams to identify PR topics, develop press releases, and ensure good Mobile Emission Catalysts coverage in trade and/or general media.
- Coordinate and develop briefing documents for media interviews, senior management speeches, and related efforts.
- Coordinate to ensure an efficient and effective crisis communications/notification process is in place.
- Executive Support
- Support senior executive communications by writing content, including speeches, business announcements, strategy updates, communications plans, interviews, and media training.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
- Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Journalism, Marketing Communication, or Communications.
- At least 8 years of experience in public relations, project management, and marketing communications required, preferably both agency and in-house.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience working in or supporting international and multicultural business required.
- Strong competence in influencing and impact to lead internal and external communications activities in a complex region, and to influence global, regional, and local counterparts.
- Able to take a broad view of the business, industry, and consumer environment to anticipate and plan. Capable of identifying the focus and defines where to play, how to win, and what capabilities and management systems are required.
- Distinguishes what to preserve and what to change, with the courage to initiate and lead the changes that drive success.
- Builds relationship based on trust and respect. Promote the inclusion of diverse knowledge, skills, and experiences to achieve results. High commitment and willingness to work hands-on.
- Ability to anticipate change, face reality, draw conclusions, and swiftly mobilize to adapt to changing needs and demands.

- Intercultural/international management and negotiation skills and good understanding of global markets and cultures required.
- Flexibility to travel up to a total of 20% of the time primarily in the region, with occasional global travel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in presentations, event moderation and public speaking.
- Excellent working knowledge of standard computer programs (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Photoshop) required.
