Where the Chemistry Happens…

We are seeking a Sr. Manager, Project Management Office to work out of our Iselin, NJ facility.

Sr. Manager, Project Management Office (1801693) – Iselin, NJ

As the Sr. Manager, Project Management Office, you will own and execute on the capital expenditure for BASF Catalysts (CC) globally, including ownership of the process for evaluating and obtaining approval for all investment projects. You will play a critical role in creating transparency in the capital process (upcoming project pipeline, ongoing projects & capital spend), the ownership and execution of project approval workflow and content, the execution of the annual capital budget and the development and execution of asset strategies. This role will give you broad exposure to leaders in all 5 Catalysts Business Units.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- You will prepare and present for approval approximately 20 investment projects per year to the Board of Directors. You will simultaneously manage 200+ on-going projects per year.
- You will ensure approvals are received by assessing the projects and obtaining needed information to evaluate business need by using your influencing, expertise, and critical thinking.
- You will own and represent the CC Standard approach for the capital investment approval process as well as the BASF Group capital investment approval process. This will include challenging sessions prior to the initiation of a capital investment project that evaluate the business case and technical feasibility as well as being the gatekeeper for all approval processes.
- By understanding the division’s priorities, budget and project slate, you will ensure that Catalysts has a reliable five year “evergreen” project pipeline.
- Using your diverse work experience in Operations and Engineering, you will interpret technology and asset strategies to determine how critical each project is to the business' needs and objectives. This will include challenging capital project justifications, including market statements, to ensure that business critical needs are met based on priority and within the given budget.
- Leveraging your strong understanding of CapEx Projects and investment finances, you will coordinate the development of asset strategies with the Global Technology (CCT) departments and the Global Business Units. The PMO is responsible for using transparency on global asset capacity, capabilities and profitability to highlight BU opportunities and propose strategic product transfers. The PMO ensures the fit of capital planning and asset strategies and, if required ,initiates the revision of the existing asset strategies.
- Your ability to adhere to established processes and procedures will help bring stabilization and consistency to the PMO function while allowing a critical eye for process enhancements where appropriate.
- You will coach and manage 1-2 direct reports to success.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

- Experience in site operations or engineering; A blend of diverse experiences is ideal
- Experience working with global teams
- Experience developing asset and capital investment strategy
- Experience with the development of projects for approval with the Board of Directors (or equivalent)
- Ability to travel 15% of the time
