Where the Chemistry Happens…

The Technology Specialist will be a member of the Global Technology team and will be accountable for managing the interaction with selected customer R&D and technical organizations.

Technology Specialist (1704462) – Iselin, NJ

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Schedule and develop content for technology exchange meetings.
- Formulate samples for customer testing and monitoring results.
- Provide feedback and learnings from customer testing to the commercial organization and the internal R&D team.
- Establish and maintain contacts with process licensors and other industry technology providers.
- Provide technical content for publications, industry presentations, seminars, and other industry events. Work closely with marketing on the delivery of these.
- Assist in non-routine technical service for FCC customers and participating in new product introductions, new customer trial monitoring, and post-audit evaluations.
- Provide feedback from customer testing and product trials to R&D to guide further efforts. Participate with R&D to develop improved laboratory testing protocols. Collaborate with R&D on utilization of new catalyst preparation pilot plant and circulating riser unit pilot facilities to develop and implement programs focused on customer needs.
- Formulate key TSR’s (Technical Service Requests) to address important customer needs.
- Participate as a member of the PST (Product Selection Team) and act as a backup for the PST coordinator.
- Engage with R&D, Sales, Marketing, and Product Management functions, as well as with external customer technical organizations.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor’s degree required in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry or a closely related field; advanced degree is a plus.
- At least 5 years of experience in R&D or Refining required (can include graduate school).
- Experience and knowledge of Refining, Fluid Catalytic Cracking, Heterogeneous Catalysis, or Catalyst Testing is preferred.
- Ability to work on multiple projects with minimal direct supervision.
- Must have or quickly develop mastery of FCC catalyst technology and impacts on commercial performance of FCC products. Capability of meshing customer needs and desires with internal business needs.
- Comfort in dealing with conflicts between customer and internal views of products and translate differences into a course of action for resolution.
