Where the Chemistry Happens…

The Polyurethanes Operations Director is a vital part of the Performance Materials North American Operations Leadership Team. This position exists to manage the safe and efficient operation of the Performance Materials Polyurethanes assets in North America, by providing leadership oversight, with a specific focus on Environmental, Health and Safety, Process Safety Management, Quality, Asset Effectiveness, Operational Excellence, continuous improvement, and employee development.

This role provides oversight to 9 manufacturing plants, and collaborates with marketing and sales, product management, and supply chain to achieve business unit objectives and ensure sustainable profitable growth.

Formula for Success: You Will…

Drawing upon your previous experience leading multi-site manufacturing operations, you will:
- Drive Operational, EHS, and STAR goals excellence in all Polyurethanes facilities in North America (9 plants).
- Manage the capital planning process for Polyurethanes which includes idea generation, spending, and execution of projects on time, on scope, and on cost.
- Serve as Process Optimization Leader and work with all levels of the organization to drive continuous improvement, resolve technical problems, and optimize operations, reduce/eliminate internal rejects and improve First Time Quality percentage.
- Lead a diverse team to achieve business objectives, inclusive of the development and tracking of business goals.
- Manage and provide guidance for effective asset performance through collaboration with asset effectiveness teams, maintenance, and technology.
- Own the execution of key production KPI’s for all Polyurethanes facilities.
- Provide strategic direction to optimize the asset network and performance; assist plant managers with the evaluation and prioritization of investment projects.
- Collaborate with Sales, Product Management, and Supply Chain Personnel to resolve customer concerns and enhance customer relationships.
- Coordinate and manage the annual operating budgets for Polyurethanes.
- Manage fixed costs through cost center management and review process.
- Oversee department cost center through personnel, budget and project development, execution, and coordination.
- Support and participate as a Steering Team member on Polyurethanes Commission “S” projects.
- Drive process for tracking, reporting, and the execution of OpX/ICON projects.
- Participate in global benchmarking teams to help translate and drive site and process improvements.
- Support and oversee year-over-year improvement in audit performance

You will use your previous plant management leadership, experience in manufacturing processes, and degree/s in a scientific discipline (preferably in Chemical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or Polymer Science Engineering) to lead 200+ employees across 9 manufacturing plants responsible for 60% of our Polyurethane business volume. Your strong business and financial acumen includes experience in financial and operational analysis to drive year-over-year improvement, the development of business cases to support investment projects, and the ability to create capital spending strategies based on the asset management strategy for the technology.
