We are looking for a Market Development Manager, MCP for Construction Chemicals. The successful candidate will be located west of the Mississippi River.

Market Development Manager, Construction Chemicals (1700830)

Reporting to the Industry Manager and Divisional Manager, the Market Development Manager, MCP will provide a local marketing/engineering presence for the Division. As the marketing/technical liaison between our customers and the organization, you will ensure that our customers’ needs are recognized and met by facilitating the new technical innovations as offered by the Business Line. On a local level, you will be responsible for the rapid introduction and acceptance of new, innovative product and program solutions. You will also have revenue and contribution margin expectations within the sales division.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Work with Sales and Marketing to annually develop and implement a plan to grow sales within the assigned industry and geography. The plan will include market trends and share analysis, competitive profiles, revenue and margin forecasts, new account acquisition strategies, and growth opportunities. Must achieve Divisional Growth Objectives annually.
- Work with the local Sales Team and, through direct customer contact, determine current and future customer needs at a local level communicating these needs to the organization.
- Collaborate with the Industry Manager and Product Managers, participating in the New Products Process (NPP), including the development of new product ideas, participation on NPP Teams, and coordinate the local evaluation of products in development.
- Be an active member of the EBN/A Innovation Management Team (IMT) to assess and prioritize the pipeline of product development activities for the BL.
- Facilitate the flow of customer/market/product information and product test data between the local area and the organization. Must be able to influence the entire value chain including engineers, architects, concrete producers, contractors, developers, owners, and DOTs.
- Through an understanding of customer specific value-propositions, interact with Product Management to provide customized product and program solutions in the local marketplace. These solutions come from existing and future product offerings.
- Develop and implement a concrete Sustainability Strategy by deploying a comprehensive push and pull plan. Manage coordination of Divisional Live Events conducted by Sustainability Specialists and Pilot Launches. Train Sustainability Specialists and monitor/drive progress on their A&E Relationships and Project Tracking objectives. Create a demand for sustainable, concrete, through-market awareness by personally conducting webinars, seminars and project identification and acquisition.
- Accelerate market acceptance of Growth Initiatives and new technologies by leading local Product Launches in assigned industry in assigned geography.
- Active participation in NCMA, ACPA, ICPI
- In conjunction with the Area Manager, Sales Representative, Product Manager, Plant Manager, and Industry Manager, manage the product portfolio in assigned geography. This includes product positioning and product life-cycle strategies, the introduction of new products and retirement of obsolete products.
- In coordination with the Industry Manager, Sales Management, and Product Managers, assist in ensuring a comprehensive pricing strategy within assigned geography.
- Provide guidance on complex technical and marketing issues, including "outside consulting" services to external customers.
- Using a complex mix of education, experience, planning, communication, creative thinking, and strategic decision making, directly contribute to both the short term and long term growth of sales revenue, profit and market share of BASF N-EBN/A.
- Provide industry mentorship and assist in training of Sales Representatives/Sales Specialists/Area Managers and Product Managers.
- Process safety roles and responsibilities across the organization are clearly-defined and include an expectation to raise, and authority to respond to process safety concerns. Senior leaders are held accountable for process safety performance. Employees understand the importance of process safety as it applies to their jobs and are responsible for following and contributing to the work processes to achieve improvement in company process safety performance.
- Assure standards of safety, environmental, team and individual performance are met in a high performance team-based organization.
- Address and raise the EHS standards at BASF.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering preferred with a minimum of 5+ years of experience; in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree,10+ years of dry cast plant experience is required
- Masters in Civil/Structural Engineering and/or MBA preferred
- Excellent technical skills and understanding of material science, concrete and its constituents
- Extensive dry cast concrete production experience required; 10+ years of actual dry cast concrete production as a Plant Manager, QA/QC Manager, Plant Manager is desirable (i.e., plant manager, QA/QC Manager, Plant Engineer)
- Ability to interact with and influence members of the external construction value chain, as well as members of the internal BASF Sales, Marketing, Product Development, and Operations Team.
- Basic financial analysis skills, engineering, construction techniques, specifications, and knowledge of NCMA, ACPA, ICPI, and ASTM standards.
- Excellent marketing, presentation, computer, and verbal/written communication skills.
